Lava rock grit in soil mix

Hi Platty, i'm not a pings expert but i kept a P. elizabethiae in pure lava (crushed) rock and it was fine. Here in Italy many growers use this substrate or the tufa brick. With the lava rock there will not any issue with fungus gnat larvae

Hi and thanks Nepenthesman! Yes after a fast research that plant should be a Lathyrus odoratus, a pea plant. It is always good to learn something new!!

    Pinguicula gigantea alba

Hi Argo, i too think you should check for larvae. They thrive in peat mix and can be very dangerous. They ate my very first pings years ago, no issue with pure lava rock (lapillo frantumato con una mazzetta).

    about D. linearis

Ciao Argo! Hi Argo, the plant died a cause of botrytis. Some linearis (like mine) grows in alkaline soil, but the seller (forum member) and a forum member too recommended me of using peat, so my mixture was peat-perlite-pumice-quarz sand in equal parts, i like open media.

    about D. linearis

Hi guys, i got this plant since may of this year. Was very little as it arrived, but after some good feeding it started to grow well, reaching about 3 cm in length of the leaves. Now it's shrinking, i know this plant has a short vegetative period, so the cause could be the plant is going into dormancy despite the hot temperature? I live in north Italy and winter can be cold, usually -4 C, or never go below 0, are these temperature enough cold? Does anyone knows if leaf cutting work? Thank you all!

    is this S. Leucophylla?

No, it'a a hybrid between purpurea and leucophylla. Probably a x mitchelliana like Alexis wrote.
