  1. yes Gareth , been done over from him already (nepenthaceae) , got banned for complaining , good busyness man hay !! would not bother from him as well never got 1 seed from hundreds to germinate in natural or T/C . dont wast your time . dont know any reliable seed sellers now , all seem to be duds for me. is why I went got my own , and do my own now , less problems and better germination so far . just not the specie seed I desire yet but when my plants mature may be then
  2. well nice to know that he actually sells what he states it is, , I asked a Indonesian guy who wanted to buy nep seed from me why didn't he buy from local sources from his own country like Ricardo !, he Stated, because I would not trust them to be what they are , they do for money nothing else and dont care what they sell !, is then what put dough in my mind . is why I went and sourced my own with a huge difference in quality and germination . I have tried to contact Ricardo , be no answer from him here, and no ebay sales on AU ebay either for some time , , i got some seed from other sellers in Indonesia Ebay , and so highly contaminated not 1 seed made it in T/C , when complained and asked for cleaner seed ,, just got banned from buying , no great loss seed was terrible any how. and mixed seed buy , not one germination in natural or T/C as well .wast or time and money again ! . considering I get 95% or greater with my seed and my own sourced seed . now have reverted to doing my own hybrids and specie again , as plants mature and flower .
  3. Yes i got from Ricardo before, usual low germination with seed, he stiffed my with $40.00 of seed recently , seed sent but no show seems like him now a no show, and I am very suspicious about the seed being what it is stated , soon to find out, have got some in T/c all most ready to see if it what it been sold to me as true ! not a lot can be done if its not true to the name of sent seed , except report to Ebay as false seller. may be why he has suddenly gone !!. I have my own seed now mainly hybrids , do have N.lowii seed harvested now, just harvested on 12/12/13 and several other of my own hybrids too all just harvested john
  4. For me I give them much more light than Dimi , and many here in AU seem to do the same, just works for me , I grow them in my nep G/H which is high land conditions and some what similar to the native Drac habitat ,from what I understand,, my temps do get high in summer , but with misting and fogging and water cooler they do very well , and put out multy spikes in spring like there doing now , hope to show more flowers soon
  5. I have about 23 Drac orchid plants, all doing well , well as good as they can for this climate. here are a few photos of some flowers coming into season now at last. Drac woolwardii Drac transilvania Drac roezlii Drac psittacina Drac posadarum with a bit of slug damage will be a lot more open in the next month or so , loads of flower spikes shooting out ,from many other plants .
  6. yes its looking very sad indeed, I have this problem here to in my part of AU , summer , there fine in the G/H nice and hot sun good humidity, the winter starts and they go backwards, ,spring come they pick up through summer and all most recover the winter again usual last about 3 seasons they die, so just dont bother with low land plants any more, to hard to too expensive to heat to right conditions . but if you want to get it going , you will need it heated to approx 27 c to 30 c reasonably constant , very good lighting is a must well ventilated with air flow grow area , tank or plastic house , seem to do well , but dont get LED or fluro grow light it just dont work , metal halide or alike will , just expensive to set up and run . been there done that in the end gave it up . I have seen many many many thousands of these plants in the wild , sun , temps and humidity & air flow are extremely important for them to do well , setting up a hot or warm grow area has it challenges , with getting right conditions ,especially lighting , and expense , for me its just easier to grow intermediates and high land plants , far less problems and hassle for me here ,may be different again for EU , UK grows again , as we dont have snow at all .
  7. While getting colour at is natural state is important, my impression of this colour dose not detract from the plant at all ,and will look as stunning with the natural colour or as it is now , either way your plant is stunning and worthy of the congrats for it . john
  8. yes the coloration of the pitchers is great , wonderful colour , you have your lighting about perfect congrats .
  9. very sorry to hear you have a heli problem, shriveling pitcher & rapid die off suddenly, sounds like the Sudden Death Syndrome to me ,its treatable if you catch it early and treat with strong fungicide overdoses , no consolation for you now though, ,but apparently you can not get the affective treatment in the UK any more, and it may not be SDS as well , but some sort of infection for sure, its a great loss ,may be some people in UK , EU mite be kind enough to supply some small plants for you to rebuild ? John
  10. A great plant, looks great coming up through the top extremely clean, coarse sand ,very effective viewing , extremely colorful when in sun light positions, they look so good in the wild in full winter sun. john
  11. What great photos ,you have a very good skill in taking a photo , thanks for sharing .
  12. No Dimi has it all over me just now , my lot are no ware near that great colour have some catching up to do I think
  13. interesting with cephs is in the wild they actually do go very dormant and many die right back to just a few small pitchers or leaf's and others die back a small amount , depending on there locations, but in cultivation they usually slow down rather then go into dormant mode or hibernation mode, ,will depend on your climate or grow climate or micro climate you give the plants to how they will react for you .
  14. That's come up very well indeed Dimi , colour has come on with the onset of autumn sun on the plant now , looks fantastic nice growing , wounder how much colour it will achieve john
  15. youri Cephalotus is one plant that likes very good ventilation, all the time, when viewing these plants in there natural habitat, even when covered with masses of grass and shrubs and undergrowth ,never observed and mould / mold or fungus on the plants winter or summer, ,so the open air or air flow constant is to me one of the most important things with them , , they are not subjected to and snow or heavy frost or freezing condition's in there natural locations, and for me would avoid any plants in zub zero temps, I know except Fred G :) who uses anti freeze in his pitchers I am sure. So I did the same in my G/H and have never experienced mould /mold or fungus on my cephs again . a good thing to do is remove any dead or advanced dying / dead leaf or pitchers from the plants ,this will lessen any infection as well . if you have larger plant that clump , many leaf and pitcher die in the middle and under the out growing area , this at times can cause infections as well , allowing mealy bug and others to take hold as well , opening up the plant can help at times as well . just from my experience here in my G/H many may differ .
  16. there looking like some very good colour will be achieved , nice plant
  17. interesting, have never heard or thought of that, guess having them in your back yard makes you think less of reproduction !, let us know how you go with your experiments ,would be keen to know , mine do well in T/C growth is exceptional fast . john
  18. in my location here in AU many young cephs that get good light show beautiful colour in many different verity of plants , many go very dark all most black/very dark purple , but dont show this colour in the larger pitchers later on , , there must be a reason for this I presume !. may be some one has the answer !.
  19. seong your H.neblinea is looking great, not all ways a easy plant to grow in some climates , helis are great plants to have in a collection .
  20. Battery cut out so vid cut short still another section to go sorry !
  21. love these plants we have loads of them here in our hills area and semi arid areas, and spider orchids as well another very interesting flower , all flowering now, on a trip several weeks back to Manarto , we found a red specie flower , was very cool to find
  22. yes Mould will occur with low light and low ventilation , never get mold in my cephs because i have huge amounts of air movement in the G/H with a massive water cooler, that can be used as cooling and just air flow, , a fan and extra light , plus some trimming will help this problem quite quickly , the air flow needs to be min or 12 hrs a day each day that will increase you water needs as well with high evaporation if the mix and pitchers .
  23. Dimi yes will be doing some very particular crossing this season , ,so fingers crossed I get some good results , but takes time as all ways
  24. Big Donk and friends ,some photos taken a while back
