  1. S. oreophila sand mountain with a very nice pitcher and plenty more to come. Also first flava flower now.
  2. No society here as yet....but it would be nice to have one.
  3. Not grasshopper this time of year. One culprit can be the caterpillar of the angle shades moth...but it is quite possibly slug as well. Look at night and you'll find him.
  4. They probably just got them in and they haven't been abused too much yet ;) I might go and give my local dobbies (30 miles away, but fortunately beside my school) a look for this then...One I've been wanting..
  5. An alabamensis recently had 11, but I accidentally snapped 2 off. Still, it should give a good show. A wherryii of mine also has 8 flowers coming.
  6. It's always a treat to see your pictures. Very nice flowers!
  7. Welcome Rachel, you certainly sound like an interesting person! You're free to post a link to your ping website.
  8. I've always kept mine undrained and water level very high. Never stopped flowering for nearly 2 years now.
  9. Your cobra lily looks super, it's grown well! I am sure you are proud of that. Lovely neps too.
  10. Looks like you had a good trip! The burbidgeae just makes my mouth water! I would so love to go to Borneo someday.
  11. You're a little ahead of me, but I'll soon have my first flower out. Love the psitts!
  12. Nadja, they are in there, I just kept them out of the shot Just things like disas, phalaenopsis, pleione. I'm not sure how much it cost - dad knows all the figures, but I do know that it is good quality!
  13. look here; http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42183&st=0&p=303405&hl=needle&fromsearch=1entry303405
  14. Thanks, I certainly will enjoy them and I very much look forward to peak season. They started to grow a month and a half earlier than they did when they were outside last year.
  15. There is no sure way to get rid of botrytis, even with herbicide or fungicide. Just remove all infected parts, keep your plants well ventilated, and dust them with sulphur powder if you wish. The best cure is prevention as far as botrytis is concerned.
  16. Back in July we had a greenhouse constructed in our garden. Only just this week have we finished the interior - staging etc. I have only been able to claim slightly more than half the ghouse as my parents have plenty of plants, mostly orchids + veggies, to grow for themselves. However, I still have plenty of space to exapnd my collection! The ghouse has really been a life-saver for the plants over the winter - no losses, and a good early start to the year, with plenty of pitchers, traps and flowers well on their way. The temperatures have soared recently, and the greenhouse is taking full opportunity of it, getting to the high 20s during the day. 17. I don't think herbicide will do much against moss in the long run! The moss is completely harmless, it is the botrytis causing your plants to die.
  18. Very nice! We're attempting to grow disas at the moment, this has further encouraged me!
  19. Good choice, Andy, very good choice indeed.
  20. I grow minor, nutans x glabra and heterodoxa x nutans on the windowsill. They do very well, and the nutans x glabra has produced a very beautiful flower stalk and become very big.
  21. A fine net bag around flowers should do the trick.
  22. I like that very much - some super butteflies there!
  23. Hi Snowwy Yes you can sell them if you wish. Just remember to put your signature on them. If you're worried about the copyright, you can indicate where you got the reference photo from on an atta hed piece of paper, but it shouldn't really be a problem.
  24. If only we had hummingbirds here!
  25. Lovely watercolours! I do like the eddy. Once my exams are over, I'll get back to painting CPs again
