Hi, I have HUNDREDS of little white mites all over my Pitcher plant. They are on the outside of the plant, the soil, the pot, the water dish and basically everywhere! I have new pitchers growing and they are about to come out and are real green and they are just plastered into these tiny white mites. What is the best way to get rid of them? What is the best way to prevent them? What are they called? AND What do i do when the pitchers have gone brown (dying) and red at the top of them. Thank you

Hi sorry i don't know the type of sundew as these ones i bought from a shop and they just had a piece of card with it saying "carnivorous plants". Ok thanks for the advice =]

Hello, I currently have a Pitcher Plant, Sundew, Venus Fly Trap and Monkey Cups. I am planning to purchase some more but i see that some should be kept in terrariums etc.? I live in Mid-Wales Powys, UK so i don't know what the daily temperature they should be at? How would i buy or make a terrarium I'm 17 so appreciate i don't have much building skills lol. Would like an old fish tank do or....? Sorry i just don't know much =[

Hiya, Thank you for replying Yes i was going to include some pictures but my camera quality is so poor. Funnily enough i just inspected the plant and there is no fluffy stuff anymore. Yes it was grey so must of been fungus although i haven't treated it and i never knew fungus go's on its own. The camera quality is so poor you can't even see the little white mites. As you can see in the photo with the biggest one in my hand it is brown at the top then it go's into a red colour and then back down to the green. Most of the pitchers are like that. Any idea on what i need to do? Thanks

Hi iv'e had a saracenia plant for a couple of years now. In the winter it started going brown and rotting from the top down. I thought this was normal because of 'dormancy' which i don't really understand much. My nan who knows a lot about flowers (but not cp's) said to cut the tops off as it would probably grow back But i'm gutted it doesn't seem to be growing back and it's all rotting even more and going fluffy and furry in the inside. There is also little white insects on it but i don't know the best method to get red of them. Please tell me what i can do thank you. Owen

- I'm told many of times that normal compost cannot be used for carnivorous plants however in the CPS book i got earlier this year it was on about planting Sarracenia in "compost" just wondering could this be done by normal compost? if not, what mix shall i do? - Whats there difference between sphagnum moss and sphagnum peat? - What types of fertalizers can you use on Carnivorous plants? Except for Giberellic Acid i dont know any? - What do the following words mean 1. Propogation 2. Cultivation I think thats about it for now if i think of any more questions i will add. Hey Heatherly, THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. About 2 years ago i bought a cactus IDENTICAL to the one in the blue pot you got in the second picture. I have not been able to identify it and i actually thought it was Aloe Vera Lol But now i have found it. Please tell me what the name of the cacti is in the blue pot? It's the one with about 3 or 4 of them on with white spots whats it called? Thanks so much :)

Yeah i am watching this program it is good. On the first episode there was a little clip of a venus fly trap. But i expect there will be a lot more carnivorous plants on Life.
