I was repotting my N. ampullaria ''Brunei Red x Harlequin" today when I suddenly noticed something white in the middle of sphagnum lump. Like there would have been a big white root growing vertical. But no, It was a pitcher!
More photos in my blog: http://snownyneps.blogspot.fi/
The pitcher was as flat as as a thin pancake - and white except the lid and the peristome had some colour. The pitcher was growing a few centimeters below the surface of the potting media. I was confused by its origin. How a pitcher could form under the ground without light and stuff?
I really can't remember a case when I would have stumble by this kind of occasion.
I decided to remove this little plant. More white leaves started to show up. I managed to remove the plant without disturbing it's growth point. Now it is growing alongside a green version of N. ampullaria. Initially the plant which I purchased in 2010 grew well but it started to sulk in 2011. I got angly and bought a new one. I didnt throw the old one it away but repotted it in 100% sphagnum. It recovered well and started to produce basals this year.
But what was the fault? When I repotted the plant I stuffed the most of the stem under the sphagnum. Maybe an inactive node activated accidentally?
Have you ever encountered pitchers like this?
I think the sites owner is paolo09 since the paypal address is [email protected] (in Poland). So thisshop has nothing to do with Czech carnivoria.eu :)
What kind of conditions does this hybrid need? Camp is a true lowlander but I'm not sure about the rob since its grow in many different temps. Some N. robcantleyis are grown in intermediate / cool intermediate / highlander. I have N. fusca "flared peristome" which is classified as an intermediate. It grows gell with N. ampullarias but may stop producing pitchers while summers high temperatures. Could I grow N. camp x rob alongside with this species (meaning intermediate/mid lowland growing conditions)?
The question was: how do you grow this hybrid? :)
I thought I had already posted mine.... but here it is: http://snownyneps.blogspot.fi Mainly in finnish but I always try to insert and english translation :)
I was looking at photos of various vivariums and poison dart frog terrariums and fell in love with these brighty coloured Bromeliads. Are there any webshops in europe/EU that offer these kind of bromeliads?
Thank you! :)
You should ask the grower in what conditions she/he has grown it. Mine is growing in lowland tank and it was originally grown in intermediate greenhouse.
Heh, thanks a lot you guys! :) The next painting is going to be N. spathulata x hamata.
mobile - this thread is in Nepenthes one so I was a bit worried :---)
I'm sorry that this painting doesn't contain Nepenthes but Darlingtonia californica

I feel like this plant ain't feeling good It has made one deformed pitcher and has dried other pitchers. Im worried that this "condition" will spread to my other plants.

No more, and the package was very big in my opinion. No, he didnt send me any bonus plants (thought he hinted a bit) but since the plants I ordered were in so great shape I desided not to complain about it
