  1. Hi all You will be pleased to hear that the CPS events diary is now up on the website. More events may be added so please keep checking back HERE

  3. It has been held here many times in the past and has proved to be a popular venue. Car parking facilities or a short walk from the train station if members don't drive or have access to a vehicle enables many members to attend.
  4. The Carnivorous Plant Society would like all members to add this years date for the AGM into your diaries. DATE :- Saturday 25th May 2019 TIME:- 12pm - 5pm PLACE:- East Horsley Village Hall Kingston Avenue East Horsley Leatherhead KT24 6QT The agenda will be announced soon. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Plant sales welcome. This is open to MEMBERS ONLY. You will need to present your membership card on arrival. No membership card = no entry! 5. Ok Here's my thoughts. Take 1 female born in Italy Then take 1 male born in Germany They both move to the UK, meet and start a family Their child (the offspring) is born in the UK. The mother will remain Italian as she was born in Italy The father will remain German as he was born in Germany But the child (offspring) will always be British as he/she was born in the UK. The birth certificate for the child will contain the parents original birth place (location data) but the childs will always be UK British. The same will be for plants. The parent plants coming from what ever location they come from will always remain as that location.....but their offspring will become a cross of the location plants so they should not become a location plant but instead carry the location data along with the parent data in the cross as reference to the parents...... (the birth certificate)

  10. Your welcome David :) A big thank you to Paul Leach and Paul Shipsides for hosting the open day for us, and of course Chester Zoo. We got to see the Orchid collection and the Cactus collection as well as the Nepenthes. All the plants are looking very good and healthy in their new home. Paul Leach has done a fantastic job on all the new staging for the Nepenthes. For those of you who couldn't make it, we also got to look around the zoo and even managed to be there on the opening day of the new BUGS exhibition, which contained a huge moving turantula, scoprpion, and butterfly to name a few. The day was a great success and we look forward to next year. Thank you both Paul and Paul
  11. Hi everyone I am doing a last call and check for the Chester Zoo open day. Any CPS member who would like to put their name on the list, please email me by Tuesday morning (tomorrow) as I will be giving the list to Chester Zoo by 12pm tomorrow (Tuesday). Regards Dianne Riddiford Carnivorous Plant Society Meetings Organiser
  12. James won the raffle. Numbers were 1-5.
  13. So glad the plant has turned up. Maybe the explanation to the gap maybe that people moved some plants around to look at others and in doing so may have created a space. I agree Mike........... getting out from behind the computer is the best way to view plants and meet other cp growers. There was a good amount of car sharing too which helped to keep travel costs down.
  14. Thank you Les. It was lovely to see you again. Thank you to all who came. It was nice to see the usual faces and one that we haven't seen for a few years. We enjoyed Saturday evening/night having a meal and a good old chin wag with a few of you (our apologies for the squished set up......lol). See you all again soon. Dianne
  15. Hi Mike Thank you to both you and Helen for another great day yesterday. Lovely seeing all who attended as usual. We agree with Les........ very annoying! Do you have a picture of it Mike that you can post up so everyone can see what plant it is? Hope it is returned safely soon. Once again, thank you to both you and Helen for the very enjoyable day. Dianne
  16. Hi Warren We have Drosera anglica and Drosera rotundifolia both seed grown, collected from Borth Bog. Ian and Dianne
  17. Hopefully the cats like dogs too................. or there could be a good game of tag.............lol.
  18. The dog with Mike's cats...........lol........... should be fun!
  19. I emailed Nick last night and unfortunately Kew are unable to schedule another open day this year as everyone is busy. Everyone involved in today's open day at Kew choose the date out of a few that I gave them, so I am sorry to anyone who has provisionally booked a day off work or made plans for a date in July. Regards Dianne
  20. My apologies to all CPS members. This event completely slipped past me. I got the date to Tim ready for the Planta, but I completely forgot to upload it onto the CPS website, the CPS facebook page and onto here in my open days and events post. I truly am sorry everyone that you are all only now seeing the post, and admittedly I wouldn't have noticed, but Nick Johnson from Kew gardens sent me a message today to check with me about the posts as he couldn't see it and to check if anyone was going. If any of you are able to make Kew Gardens tomorrow (today), please have a wonderful day as I know that everyone at Kew has been working very hard to make it a good day for you all. Regards Dianne Riddiford Carnivorous Plant Society Meetings Organiser
  21. CARNIVOROUS PLANT SOCIETY KEW GARDENS VISIT SATURDAY 1st JUNE 2013 10am for free access to the public gardens 1pm for access to the restricted area This popular meeting will include a tour of the Carnivorous plant greenhouse in the tropical nursery. This area is not open to the public, and houses many more plants, especially Nepenthes, than are on general show. several members enjoyed being able to spend more time looking around the public areas of Kew last year, so again this year those of you wishing to make a good day out can gain free access to the gardens at 10am, meeting at the Herbarium Gates. Otherwise meet at 1pm outside at the Herbarium Gates, which is a private entrance a few hundred yards to the right of the main entrance on Kew Green. Please don't be late, as the gates will be locked very shortly after both entry times.
  22. Hi Tony Just a thought.......Is the window by any chance by a radiator? If it is and the heating has been on then this MAY be affecting it. If not may be it's getting too warm in front of the window. We try and keep ours out of direct sun (not that we have had too much...lol) . Dianne and Ian
  23. We get all of our pots from LBS horticultural supplies. We have a trade account with them that gives better discounts. I have checked their website and the smallest they have at the moment is 20cms. Looks like everyone wants the smaller baskets at the moment!
  24. Hi We are planning on going on Saturday. As far as we know P & J plants, Nigel HC and Matthew Soper will be there. I am not sure if they are showing or just selling though. Dianne
  25. Hi Welshy........ Glad to see you on here. No problem about the name........ we gave away a load of free plants for postage on here last year. When you come for the open day you will see all my Mexican pings.......... they are very easy to grow :) Dianne
