Hi Guys,
A couple of weeks ago I bought this strange looking plant at a local garden centre.
It didn't have any ID and nobody could tell me what it was.
I've been googling for ages, but I can't find anything that looks like this plant.
Does anybody have any idea what I've bought?
I'm looking for a name and possible care for it, but all information is welcome.
In the gallery you can see some pictures of it:

Thanks a lot for your help!
Regards,
Laurens

I'm very sorry to see this happen to your plants, but indeed you can be happy there was no hail included.
You always cheer people up with pictures of your gorgeous plants during the winter at the northern hemisphere.
I hope they will recover soon!

Yes, I remember it from a website of a grower I think who's in the US.
Here is the link to his website with the picture of the plant:

I don't recognize the second one
Good luck!

In the second year I put my seedlings in trays with multiple plant "holes" , you can compare them with many little pots fused together, they are about 4x6 each hole.
Then in the third year I put them in 7x7x8 cm pots, in this year they will mostly grow a lot faster.
Good luck!

From me too!

I've had the Darlingtonia Lois Glass myself, it came from Mike.
Mike told me when I got it it was a form that wouln't grow really large like a normal Darlingtonia.
They get around 30/40 cm high, but not any higher.
Good luck!

They look better every time you post pictures of you plants!
Why don't you send some of that nice Italian weather to us?

The sun hours here are terrible...
Thanks for sharing & happy growing!

This indeed is a Carniflora hybrid, I know and grow the plant too.
The flower indeed is rather orangish.
So there probably is indeed some rubra in it, but please don't tag it with a specific hybrid name, if it comes from Carniflora you can never be sure about the parentage.
Good luck!

I don't know about the story behind those two VFT's, but I do know that growing Dionaea side by side doesn't really show if they are the same clone or not.
I have some divisions of the same clones of VTF's and they don't show the same shapes and colors, I have a couple of south west giant plants and they are all divisions from one plant, they grow with a lot differences from each other, coloration, upright traps, teeth etc. are all showing differences to me, while it's still the same clone and grown under the exact same conditions.
I also have the same issue with some other named Dionaea clones and typical plants from the same mother plant. I don't really know how to explain that, but it just seems to be.
Good luck!

Wonderfull plants! They look really nice!
Thanks for sharing.
About those lidless things, you can aquire them if you get a F25A claret from Mike King, then you need to self pollinate it and you will get these deformed plants...
Good luck!

Amazing! Your plant will grow a lot better now I think.
I notice the same here on my venosa's, most of them are now filled with a greyish ant soup wich smells really bad, but the plants must be loving it!
Happy Growing and thanks for sharing!

See you all over there next week!

I think if I was let loose in there someone would have to hide my credit card

They only accepted cash, so no worries for your credit card. But I would have bought more if I wouln't go to Mike King next month.

Did you go home with a trolley full of goodies?
I bought some plants, but not that many, only two Sarracenias and 3 Dionaeas.

Yesterdag there was an open day at Carniflora, this is one of the big European commercial growers and this is also the place most garden centre get their plants from.
They don't really grow special plants, only very much plants.
Also a thing to notice, they grow almost all kinds of carnivorous plants in the same greenhouse without cimate control sections.
The place is 100 meters long and 75 meters wide, so that's one big greenhouse

Thanks for watching!
