    lost plants

My VFTs have come through winter well this year. I decided to keep them much drier, didnt need to water them at all. Ive had a load of casualties with the Westlands peat though.
  2. Yes Westlands is CRAP!! There is a bad batch going around, dont use it.
  3. I would AVOID using it!!! Ive used Westlands for a few years now with no problems, UNTIL NOW. The new bag i opened was alot darker, almost black, it was quite wet and had twigs and big lumps of stuff in it, i have lost a good few plants since potting them in that rubbish. I have been advised to invest in Moorland gold, i suggest you do the same. Sandra
  4. Goes to show the Cephs are tough little plants. I will just have to get some money together and order the Moorland gold, i would be devastated if i lost all my VFTs. Most of my giants have grown really well this year, especially the B52's, would be a real shame if i lost them now.
  5. Yes, they are all still in the westlands. I did email about the Moorland gold but its going to cost me around £130 for 15 bags, shame the delivery is so expensive. The larger plants are so far doing ok, they were planted using a different bag of westlands that seemed better quality than the one i had opened for my newer plants. I suppose its worth paying the £130 or risk losing my collection of plants. Yet my Cephs have gone wild this year, they are potted in the stuff!!! The VFTs dont like this westlands rubbish.
  6. I have tears in my eyes as i'm writing this!! More casualties to add to my list... Louchapates, Petite dragon, Black pearl, Short teeth, Wacky traps, Red fused petioles and cropped teeth. R I P .
  7. Thanks guys for the info, i will check out the sites and see what i can get. I never thought of asking the garden centre if they would order some in. Next time i go i will ask. Sandra
  8. The westlands is easy to get, most garden centres stock it, i just cant find any other make. Where do you order your Moorland gold or Shamrock from, i will need to get a batch delivered. Sandra
  9. I am having the same trouble as above. Ive used westland irish moss peat for a few years, had no problems with it, up till now!!. The last big bag ive opened is much darker (almost black) and seems quite damp compared to the others. It has big lumps of twigs and stuff in it, not nice at all. Ive lost a few plants (VFT,s) since potting them in that rubbish. Also the weather has been pretty bad , they had a good start in April and May, but thats about it. Its been a dreadful summer. Hi Heather, ive been searching for some good quality peat but cant find a supplier that will deliver either. Ive sent a few emails , but heard nothing back. Sandra
  10. Here's a few Limericks. Hope i dont get wrong.... they are a little bit naughty! There was a young man from Australia Who painted his arse like a Dahlia The drawing was fine The colour devine but the scent...alas...was a failure. There was a young gardener from Leeds Who swollowed a packet of seeds Great tufts of grass Sprouted out of his a** And his clangers were all covered in weeds. Im sorry... i just couldnt help myself.. Hahahaha
  11. Davy, now i get it,...... i think!!!!
  12. I have used the westlands irish moss peat for a few years now and i have had no problems with it. All my VFTs grow very well, though i dont constantly stand them in water, i let them dry out a little between waterings. Maybe the stuff doesnt like to be kept too wet or like you said, there might be a dodgey batch going round
  13. Hi, lovely photos, the Fondue is such a strange looking plant! Does it manage to feed well? I love the Coquillage.
