  1. The seeds my friend and I ordered from you germinated yesterday, with an equal rate - 2 seeds at the moment, but looks like at least 2-3 more seeds will germinate. Unfortunately can't post any pics, don't have the macro needed. Maybe later, when the seedlings will grow up a bit. I must say I'm very happy! Peter
  2. That's one of the most interesting terrestrial utrics - incredible flowers, unfortunately mine hasn't flowered yet! Peter
  3. Thanks for the answers! Sounds interesting. I'll have to think about the lights. The terrarium I've got now is OK, the plants are growing happilly and even U.campbelliana has got flowerstalks, but it became too small very quickly;) and the freezer method has some disadvantages (especially the humidity drop when the cooling is on). Peter
  4. Thanks for a lot for your help, interesting setup! Everything's great and all but growLEDs are very expensive, what was the price you paid for yours if I can ask? Are the plants getting enough light to grow well in your opinion? What sundews do you grow in there? Peter
  5. That's true, you can't lay it horizontally, you shouldn't even transport them that way. As for the beer fridges - don't buy thermoelectric ones, they're too weak for our purposes. I think that the only way is to cut out a hole in it. Personally I've got the stuff needed to do it, but I'm just not sure if I won't destroy the refrigerator. I'll try to figure something out. Peter
  6. I must say I tought about a similar thing a year ago and almost bought it, but I decided to do the cooling like Martin Hingst did because I just couldn't find a way to install the light in a wine cooler like this one. The freezer method is ok for me but I really would like something more simple. I think that both replacing the "roof" with plexi or separating the light and getting the hot air outside needs some modifications to be done to the cooler. I think the first method would be better, the only thing is to figure out how to do it without harm to the cooler:) I hope we'll find a way to do it! Peter
  7. Thanks a lot for these photos! It's great you managed to find such ammounts of this species on the site. Good to hear it showed up in places that have been dry for such a long period of time. Sounds like the rains are an important ecological factor for them, are climatic changes a reason of their diminishment? Or maybe changes of the terrain's water relations caused by humans? Peter
  8. All of these seeds from the shop should germinate without any problems, my friends bought the D.aliciae "large form" seeds, D.anglica {Hawaii}, D.venusta RSA and I germinated the D.intermedia {Gran Sabana} a couple of years ago. Spatulata, capensis and aliciae are weeds and they must germinate if given the right conditions. Peter
  9. Drosera seeds from BCP are generally OK, you only have to choose wise... I bought some south-american dews' seeds and they germinated quite nicely (felix, roraimae, montana, sessilifolia) with germination rates up to 90% but personally I wouldn't give a go to some of their seeds. What species you're interested in? Peter
  10. I must say I'm surprised with it's size! Looking forward for more photos after your next visit to the site. Peter
  11. That's one of the most beautiful utrics in my opinion, great photo! What's the size of the flowers? Peter
  12. Some really pretty plants you've got there, these sundews are beautiful. Peter
  13. wow, that's a nicely-flowered utrics! Are you going to get any seeds?
  14. Thanks for your replies! Fabrice - it's cool you managed to get a flower, well the aborted stalks are a problem also with my U.amethystina, it's very frustrating because each time it sends up flowerstalks I hope to see the flowers open - then nothing! Ron - looking forward to hear how's the plant doing on the windowsill. As for the large pots, I use one of a larger size, pure LFS as substrate - the plant grows like crazy, lots of leaves, but not even a chance for a flower. I think I'll try to flood it. Other toughts?
  15. Hi, I've got this plant for some time now, it formed a dense carpet of leaves in a couple of pots but it never flowered for me. I wonder what can cause it to flower? I heard it's difficult under terrarium conditions, did anyone succeed in this matter? I keep it in my highland terrarium with some epiphytic utrics, the temperatures are 23-25 degrees C during the day and usually 10-15 at night (in winter they are lower, 4-8 degrees C at night). What are your experiences? Peter
  16. Looks pretty much like the D.intermedia I mentioned above. I can see that czplants.com still have such seeds in their offer: https://www.czplants.com/p4953-Drosera-inte...nts-seeds-|-20s
  17. My U.tricolor grows like a weed too, but it never flowered for me! only produces lots of leaves despite the low temperatures in the terrarium. Peter
  18. I had some D.intermedia labelled 'Gran Sabana' from L. Kostiuk once, back in the times when he was running his business. Do you have any photos? Peter
  19. Beautiful flowers! What are your conditions for U. tricolor?
  20. Yes that's a weird plant and I have no idea what this could be. I've got a form of U.longifolia that forms such looking leafs though. I'll wait for it to grow:) Maybe that's a hybrid just like you've said. As a side not for the calycifida, I think that 'Lavinia Whateley' lacks the veining
  21. Hello Napraforgo, Lokks like you were right - after washing the stolons toroughly, it looks like it's another plant. Maybe U.longifolia as Maik said:) Thanks for your help! Peter
  22. The large leafs are growing on the same stolon as the small leafs do... it's an amethsytina for sure.
  23. Hi, I recently received another U.amethystina plantlet. It was growing like the other ones in my collection, but a few weeks ago it started to develop very large leafs, if compared to the regular ones in this species. The pot stands next to the other pots with U.amethystina in my highland terrarium, gets the same ammounts of light which aren't small. Here's a "normal" plant, developing flowerstalks: And here's the big one: The larger leafs are growing from the same stolons as the small leafs do. The coin is 2cm in size, so the largest leaf is almost 1 inch long! Why do they grow so? Is that normal for U.amethystina?
