  3. i don,t hide the fact i,m crap with computers.a newbie(is that the right phrase)but i can grow plants-well at least better than i am with this dam laptop. ada :dancing:
  4. sorry aidan, glad you moved my pics.what with resizing, uploading.copying ,pasting -too much to think about in one go,iwent for a walk.now i might post them in the right place when i take some later as they grow.
  5. sorry if these post are bugging some of you,i,m rubbish with computers but with the aid of my twelve year old daughter and modern technology bingo! we have lift off. we,ll post some better pics later,i,m off for a lay down. ada.
  6. i think you have the patience of a saint. how do people live -& learn without computers? i had to read books or get on with it.trial & error or is that life?
  7. i agree, everything comes to he who waits! sooner maybe than later,eh aidan
  8. i hope gerd,s plant is the real thing, but as droserguy says we all get done over at sometime.thats why for the rarer plants you usually have to wait until they are more readily available(which can take years)or put your name on a waiting list like Mike King operates. many serious growers will only deal with people they trust and have dealt before,so they are sure of the origin and material they are getting. fingers crossed gerd.
  9. depends, what do you call outside? i grow some in the green house which is open all year round.no heating provided and they do freeze solid when its cold enough.the longest they have been frozen is about 2 weeks with no ill effects.they are kept moist not stood in water.

i,ve tried this before, sometimes it works and you do get much bigger pitchers.however some will flower again, only smaller because of the wasted energy put into the previous flower.i think its best to let nature take its course-you can always cut the flower off when the petals fall,to save energy for the pitchers instead of seeds
  11. isn,t that the case for everyone.
  12. i use to repot every year, but as GOE says it affects the size & colour of pitchers, especially rubras.i only repot when i have to(i,m getting lazy in my old age)i could be tempted to split some up-for the right swaps of course.hint-hint,aidan.
  13. i made a bog barrel several years ago for my wife.i started with half an oak barrel, lined this with an old black refuse sack-the thick type.then put some broken polystyrene in,3 or 4inches deep, then filled the barrel with old cp compost, from repotting time and watered it in.when settled in i cut the black bag 1 1/2inches from the top of the barrel and topped up with fresh compost.easy. my wife grows darlingtonia, pings, sarras, drosera & a little fly trap ,which have all survived being frozen, baked and watered when remembered.
