Change can be a good thing, but to change something just because you can doesn't mean its a good thing. If it 'aint broken don't fix it!

i'll give you that one Alexis, carry on doing good and seeing both sides
  3. could have been a tortrix moth catipillar, there is a lot about again this year
  4. I know what you mean.I only used to grow species and location plants, but the bad winter 7 or 8 years ago changed my thinking. i now grow plants that grow well in my conditions, still some species and hybrids from seed. Conservation is a great idea, they are reintroducing some species around the world now. Some people are for it,some against, but i doubt they will ever do it with our sarracenia.

Les and i had a private pm over his worries about this man. i did go round to the address he gave me,which is not the one that was posted as a photo on here. I have checked him and he was convicted of fraud in 2007,i will look for the article and post it on here when i find it,unless that is against forum rules now. Its a good job some of us have the guts to say what we feel and give a bit of balance to a increasingly one sided forum. Soon you will only have the YES people left, will the owners be happy then?

I have not slung any mud,nor held a kangaroo court. This person has cropped up again and been brought to our attention. If one thing bothers me,it is people being conned with cp's, i really hate this, yes it has happened to me,so i know how it feels and the people responsible will pay one way or another. Take that how you want! I will always name and shame anyone who does this anywhere i can. If this forum allows me to do so,in a talk about anything topic area. If not, then the CPS has changed the forum from what it used to be. And i don;t want any part of it, if it is going that way. ada

The house pictured was NOT mr Nimmo's address unless he has moved there, FROM a maisonette further down the road. I worked on the house pictured as a vacant property. The plants i saw were not in this property. I have posted this in talk about anything as a discussion, don't reply if you don't like it,but i don't hear Mr Nimmo complaining someone posted his address and photo's. so if anyone else gets scammed by him don't bother posting it on here, NO ONE CARES! ada

We call it common sense in yorkshire,if it seems too good to be true,it usually is. But the point was, He also made the cp community aware of mr Nimmo's scam AGAIN!

So the topic is locked! agreed, the final bit was not about cp's. But someone had a problem with the same person. He was trying to find out information to try to get his money back if possible. He was also bringing it to the attention of CP GROWERS that this person is still actively conning people! something we should all be aware of. I think shutting it down in such a manner was a bit heavy handed and could have been done better. i hope this isn't a sign of things to come.......... ada

    Lack of Pollen

Is it very humid Ron? try leaving the doors open a bit more
  17. i think you should. the seeds are in a very wet humid enviroment. if they germinate they will grow to suit the place they grow in and won't need hardening off
  18. I never bother covering seeds. Just give the kids some old sarracenia compost wet it and throw the seed on. I usually let them do it at new year when i sow my sarra seeds so they get well stratified. Or just chuck them around the sarra pots and see what comes up. In fact a few weeks ago i found some 2012 vft seed and just threw them in an old tray i use for any spare bits of seed that stick to my hands or blow about. I don't expect any until next spring,we'll see what comes up later
  19. if they are outside there is a good chance small bumblebees will have pollinated them. Inside no chance

    Red darlingtonia

It depends on if they have inherited the red gene.some are red as small seedlings and turn green as they mature. most plants do this sadly. when they are semi mature in quite a few years then you will be able to tell for sure. Remember to give them plenty of sun in the autumn. ada
  21. i'd go with heat stress, pot too small and roots can get hot and dry very quickly. Put them in bigger pots and they will be better off, mine are in 8 or 9 inch pots, these fluctuate less in temperature and hold moisture better
  22. not yet! have patience grasshopper. september or october when the pod dries out and splits.
