  1. I've just checked which of my plants was in the photo. Its the "Bednar"clone,i got it from Mike in 1999.So you could say its mature.I think you guys will have to wait and see what your plants mature like. I think what Mike says about the alata influance is true. You only have to look at the pitcher shape and the angle of the lid to see it,particularly in the russell rd clone. ada
  2. Here's a pic of my SG,the tallest one,the russell rd one is right at the back. http://www.cpukforum.co.uk/uploader/user_u...Picture_051.jpg
  3. The Russell road leucophylla clone is yellow flowered and does go pinkish. But sorry Jim it still doesn't look like your clone. I think this is where people need to do their homework and check photo's or just ask where the seller got their plant from originally. Just because something is "cheap" doesn't mean its the real thing, you really need to get plants from a good source. To be sure. Saying that though if it was seed grown,it could be a "throw back" to something schnells ghost came from originally. Ada.
  4. No mountains round here! only hills. No roots yet thou'Fred, may be later. Ada.
  5. I agree with the last two posts. My first cobra can stand any amount of heat my greenhouse can throw at it,and its only stood with the sarras(no special watering). BUT "OTHELLO" is different. My first one grew to 6" easily, dinner time it was o.k-tea time it was dead, completely collapsed and shriveled and it was grown there all its short life. My next othello is grown much cooler and is now sending out a stolon,so it must prefer the cooler conditions, something the last one never did. you taking notice Fred! ada
  6. SOUTHERN SOFTIES! only kidding Aidan,I leave all but one outside in an unheated greenhouse(leaf cuttings too). But dont keep them wet. I leave them dry to just damp with no losses. The large one(2 1/2 inch traps) i have split so one will be taking its chance outside this year. ada.
  7. "Eden Black "was grown from seed by Stephen Morley,so is unique.he registered it as so,so it can only be produced vegativley. And as he states,he has only parted with a few plants to selected growers,he knows where they've gone! so unless you got it from one of these people, the likelyhood is your plant isn't the true "Eden Black" Ada
  8. I've just sown some seeds from Andy,if they germinate your welcome to some Stephen. ada
  9. I've been doing a bit of digging through some old paper work. J.Ainsworth grew a seedling, one of his own he called "Yellow" Bank farm seedling.ss202(his reference code). When he finished or just before he finished growing sarracenia,i believe some went to PJ PLANTS(Marston Exotics formerly). Could this be the plant? I have e-mailed John but haven't had a reply yet. ada

    Pollination

Outside yes,i usually get very good seed production without doing a thing, but thats only the purps. Inside though(greenhouse)unless i pollinate by hand i find i get very little ,if any seed. ada.

    Pollination

No Amar, they usually flower at slightly different times. If you want to do a particular cross you can cover that/those flowers with a small bag or a light cloth.when the flower turns or the petals drop you can remove it to prevent any mould or rot. ada
  12. I think all of the above a right, for all the reasons they state.I find that doing them now you just have to keep the potting mixture just damp rather than wet to avoid the rotting Bill talks about. p.s Dunc roll your sleeves up! ada

    Aphids

Sam,B&Q OR Wilkinsons sell a hand spray,so you can just do the affected plant. The one you showed is the soil drench i think. ada.

    Aphids

    Sam get some Provado. ada.
  15. Nice pics Wes,good to know they're still out there doing well. ada.
  16. Great looking plants Tim,i love the variation from seed.A lot bigger than i thought they would be as well.I've got my own seed to sow from Dudley Watts giant clone and smaller red clone,my first time trying seed so its good to know no special conditions are required. ada.
  17. Looks very festive,frosty almost.

    One For The Future!

the actual cross is[(purp venosa var burkii x purp venosa var burkii f luteola)x(purp venosa var burkii x purp venosa var burkii f luteola)]. I think thats the correct way to write it.Hopefully that should put some vigour into the growth of the said luteola seedling. If any of this isn't correct, those of you who know about "this crossing" feel free to correct me. all the best to everyone at christmas, ada.
  19. Well done stew, keep up the good work. Adrian.
  20. Joel, are those what you were going to grow in amongst something,as i remember. If so they dont like it too warm and may go dormant early, before forming a big enough hibernacula to survive long or alternatively rot.
  21. I wondered how long it would take for you to join in Fred,i'll just stick to the easy methods like you Fred. ada.
  22. Looks to me like some one's trying to over complicate things.
  23. Ithink what your trying to say is some people will experiment, and to do this you have to optimise the growing conditions for your plants. We all know cephs can be tricky, but the British climate can be very changeable to say the least. So first we find out how to grow them in our local conditions, well. Then when we have a few spares we can experiment,i'd like to see some of your ceph trials if you have some photo's. Ada.
