  10. CPUK Forum saw some big changes in April 2011, all good we hope! The forum software was upgraded to the latest version and a new skin was installed. Lots of new things to get used to but hopefully not to much trouble for everyone. We also moved to a new server which will help us continue to grow and improve over the next few years.
  11. The CPUK Forum was formed in March 2002 when there were very few similar websites dedicated to the carnivorous plant enthusiast. We started with just an handful members, some of who are still with us today and have grew to become one of the best known websites of it's kind on the internet. We owe our success to our long standing loyal and very knowledgeable membership. We've seen many copy websites come and go over the years but we are still here so must be doing something right. Thank you to all the CPUK Forum members and lets hope we continue for many more years as the best Carnivorous Plant Forum on the internet.
  12. Illegal Plant Trading It has come to the attention of Admin and the Moderators that increasing numbers of illegal trades in live plants are being carried out between forum members. The purpose of CPUK forum is not to facilitate such trades. Illegal trades are defined as those that do not meet legal requirements for plant import and/or export, either in the UK, USA or other territories. Trading with third parties for plants of suspect origin may also be included in this definition. Forum policy is that those caught engaging in illegal plant trading will be immediately and permanently banished, and evidence will be passed to the appropriate enforcement agencies. Please do not make the mistake of considering this an idle threat. We are always reluctant to banish members and consider it the final sanction. However, members have been permanently banned for illegal trading and this policy will be rigorously enforced. Any Sales & Wants posts that encourage illegal trading will be immediately deleted and warnings issued. Such posts are often thinly disguised and Moderators have thus far posted simple reminders of the legal requirements for plant import/export. Our response will be more robust in future. Where illegal trading is suspected, members will be requested to provide further information. Refusal to cooperate will be considered a tacit admission of guilt and reason for permanent banishment. If members become aware of possible illegal trading either now or in the future, please pass your concerns to the Moderators. All such information received will be held in strictest confidence. Why do we care? Primarily, concerns of plant health and protection of endangered species. Phytosanitary inspection is required for good reason. It is all too easy to unwittingly introduce unwanted pests and diseases to new territories. Equally, plants are CITES listed because they are endangered and therefore require protection. More than 95% of Sarracenia habitat has now been lost and other genera like the Nepentheswhere an entire species may only be known from a single location, are in even greater danger. That plant you just purchased on the quiet may have been ripped from the wild. Your cooperation and understanding is appreciated.

People registering just to advertise web sites will be deleted immediately. Send an email to [email protected] if you have problems.
  14. Although the Administrator and Moderators of CPUK Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, they can not be held responsible for message content. All posted messages express the views of the author. The owner or the representatives of CPUK Forum may remove, edit, move, or close topics that are not in accordance with these rules. The forum is moderated by volunteers who do their best to keep the forum a friendly place. Their job is to keep the forums productive and positive and their decisions are final. Any grievances should be reported to [email protected] so that they can be sorted out in a civilised manner. CPUK is not the average forum. We are proud of the fact that while growing fast we continue to remain extremely friendly to both new and established members. When posting messages to the forum please keep the following points in mind: 1]> Do not post messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, racist, hateful, threatening, or otherwise offensive. 15. CPUK continues to grow in both membership and number of posts. Success causes its own problems and in order to ensure that success continues into the future, it has now become necessary to formalise and post a set of rules. It is rare, but sometimes people join with the sole intention of causing trouble and/or damage to the forum. We present here the first draft set of rules for the forum, These rules are not 'set in stone' and revisions may be made. We are now seeking the thoughts of the membership as a whole. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although the Administrator and Moderators of CPUK Forum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, they can not be held responsible for message content.
