This is a reccuring topic and a legend...there is no reason for a commercial laboratory to use mutagenic substances just to propagate Nepenthes.

Copper sulfate kills algae, but can be toxic to plants and organisms.
There should be a concentration that limits algae growth without being toxic to benefic organisms...
I keep the lowlanders standing in water, but only in the beginning or for small plants, and after hardening I water them once a week or when the soil is dry.

Have you seen the albo-marginata growing very closed to the sea?
