  1. My collection has expanded quite a bit since my last post here Here's a couple of my favorites- Hurricane Creek White Mike King clone F And Splinter Hill from Mike King- The Bog Island is doing really well- Overall, it's a lot of fun collecting these and hope you enjoy the photos!
  2. Hi all, here are some of my plants (a few of them I got at the end of last season) and my thoughts on them. SL27 Hurricane Creek White (MK L58B) This is a really vigorous leuco, I got this division from Mike King last Autumn. It is a gorgeous plant, and I can't wait to see how the Autumn traps look :) SL13 Red form, Deer Park, AL This is currently the tallest plant in my collection. In terms of growth, it has been reliable and constantly creates massive pitchers. I got this one from Nigel Hewitt-Cooper, in my opinion a very underrated leuco. SF04 Cutthroat I had no idea that Flavas even got this big before owning this plant. It is easy to divide and very vigorous. Not to mention it must be my favourite flava in terms of looks. SL10 Snow White: Bay County, FL I have not owned this alba leuco long enough to have an opinion on its vigor, but it is certainly a beauty. DM04 Slacks Giant This is currently my favourite venus fly trap, another great Mike King plant. It is fast growing, and the traps so far are enormous. Really pretty plant. SL18 Chronus (Titan) I have heard really mixed things about this plant. I can only comment from my own experience, but personally I love the look of this trap, and it has divided well (was divided last year). One of the tallest in my collection but not the tallest, but then not the most mature. Overall, I am happy to have this one in my collection. I hope you enjoyed these, and I will be posting more in the future :)
  3. Ok thank you I will get there as early as I can!
  4. Hi just a question, I am down in Dartmoor and it's a four hour drive, is getting there around 12 to 1pm OK? Thanks!
  5. Hi all, if you are interested, here is a video of my plants
  6. Thank you! Though I am beginning to run out of space in the greenhouse
  7. Hi all, I have some updates on my collection, I have got some more plants since I last posted so I thought I would share some of them I have also created my own filing system. SL12 Paradise Bay, FL (L16 MK) (this is from carniplantes74 aka Greg on the forum and it is a beautiful and healthy plant) SL23 Green/White Milton N. Florida And here are some that have been posted before but have some really nice autumn pitchers so far SL05 Purple and White Giant: RT71, Nr. Althea, N Florida SL03 Helmut’s Delight SL01 Schnell’s Ghost: Bruce Bednar Clone, yellow flower, Perdido AL (since my last Schnell's Ghost post, I have verified this is the Bednar plant)
  8. Thank you Rob, that makes sense. Ok, thank you for the list, that is a phenomenal list of plants! I can't wait to go, and the listings make much more sense now. Thanks Greg, I have had a look and that is quite something! I will spend some time going through the website. It is very helpful in determining the different numbers, thank you!
  9. Hi Rob, Thanks so much for explaining this, it is really helpful. I am planning to see Mike King's collection for the first time in October I was searching rare plants by the collection number, and sometimes getting conflicting results- that will explain why. Many thanks!
  10. Hi all, I am wondering if there is a guide anywhere as to how location data works for Sarracenia? For an example of one I have seen and don't fully understand: SL05 S. leucophylla -- green & white citronelle ( L1-MK ) I am guessing SL05 is Sarracenia Leucophylla number 5, then the name of the plant. What I don't understand fully is L1? I think MK is Mike King. If anyone could help I would very much appreciate it
  11. Hi all, When growing sarracenia from seed, is it best to put the seeds on top of the soil, or to sprinkle some soil over them? Jonathan
  12. Thank you! I think you're right- I have edited it now. Thanks! It is a really stunning plant.
  13. I have some really nice new plants and did a rearrangement in the greenhouse to maximise space and tidy it up Sarracenia Leucophylla Ctenium Fields, Perdido, Alabama This is a Purpurea from Lidl, a surprisingly nice plant I was so happy to see this shoot earlier today, since I stuck what was effectively a piece of leaf with no root and very little rhizome into the ground on this Schnell's Ghost :) Can't kill what's already dead I suppose?
  14. Hi Colin welcome to the forum! :) I do like purpureas, that was the first carnivorous plant I ever owned. Best of luck with your collection!
  15. My wife and I had a great time today meeting dennisB, and seeing his impressive collection of plants. We even got to take some home, as seen below: S. Purpurea cleared from a bog near Wareham in Dorset S. Flava "Cutthroat", not the tallest trap I have (though close) though definitely the biggest in width. S. Leucophylla from "The Bog", Washington County, Alabama S. Flava var. Rubricorpora Thanks to Dennis for a great experience seeing and learning about these plants!
  16. You have a really nice collection there, some beautiful plants
  17. Following Greg's comment I had a fresh look at the tray bog and a think about the height of the soil in there, and decided it would be wise to raise up the lower plants, I aimed to have the soil level at roughly 4 inches from the bottom of the tray at least to give the taller plants roots more room. I am sure this was the right thing to do and I will continue to make adjustments if required. This is a sundew I noticed at the base of my Purpurea And a rather cute new division of a Leucophylla I am not completely sure what this Leuco is exactly, I have had it for quite a while before I really knew about named location plants, I will see if I can find out from old email orders what it is. It is slow-growing but I really like it. We did quite a bit of tidying in the small greenhouse today, I have some more room for plants now This Schnell's Ghost was from the smallest piece of rhizome with no roots last year that I didn't think would survive but potted in case, I am surprised how well this has done This hybrid was divided into several plants this year and put in a bigger pot which it has almost filled, it is a really vigorous plant and I think looks even better as it gets taller.
  18. Hi Dennis, Thanks for the reply- I am glad at least some survived. I would love one, let me know here or by PM when it suits you to meet and I am sure we can organise that I am on Dartmoor so not too far. Ok, if there is I would be interested! Thanks Jonathan
  19. Ah of course, when I have some ready I will let you know
  20. Thanks, although I realize I didn't phrase that very well, I mean when my existing plants get big enough to divide, I would be up for a swap of the divisions But may take a bit of time before I can do so, haha.
  21. Thanks! I hope they do well, so far they are showing new growth and quite happy though I think the soil is a little deeper then it appears in the picture. Yes the rocks are granite and slate, not had any issues with them
  22. It's a shame I missed this, would have liked to help out. Do you know what happened to the removed plants?
  23. Thanks for the reply Dennis, Schnell's Ghost is certainly very white and lacking in red- though I am not sure Schnell's Ghost is 100% antho free, like the Green Mutant for example, as new growth is a flushed salmon, and the rhizome has a little red, but it just has extremely little red present anywhere so comes across antho free certainly.
