  1. Plants have been outside all year in pots, so have treated for green fly a few times already. Only been added to the bog this week. But yes, I think your right, good spotting about the lime stone. Im not entirely sure if they are limestone, but I might remove them just to be safe anyway. Put some wood around. The stones are not actually in the bog though, just holding the plastic sheeting down around the outside. There is a ridge between the stones and the bog to stop any run off from the field behind, entering the bog, so nothing from the stones should entre either. But I might just be safe. Steve
  2. Hi I have been a member here a few months now, but just lurking in the background. So thought I would say hi and show off my latest project. Hopefully get some constructive criticism off you guys. Main thing is, do you think all plants should survive the winter. Are they hardy enough Thanks Steve
  3. Thanks Linuxman. That's what I was going to do anyway. Just wanted a quick check Steve
  4. Hi everyone I have just split a Sarracenia hopefully some of you can identify it. I belive it's a hybrid. It was very crowed with rhizomes all growing on top of each other, even in a large pot. My main question is now I have split the plant. Do I cut off all existing pitchers, even though there are quite a few nice pitches on the plant. And although they are obviously dormant now, should I stand them in water, or just give them a good soaking, so the new compost is damp. There is a new Flava in the one pot, and quite a few of the plants split of my hybrid. A few sundews which the frost got to, which are just recoving and a venus fly trap or 2. Thanks steve
  5. I'm Steve. In my early 40s now lol and started a very basic Sarracenia garden. I originally started collecting carnivorous plants as a kid, after falling in love with my venus flytrap. It soon progressed to collecting various Sarracenia which grew on my window sill. And quite a few in mums garden. Now after digging a pond last year, and toying with the idea of a bog garden, I've decided to start another collection. Although not a bog garden yet, I've gone for a few large pots around the pond. Although currently my plants are over wintering in the porch. Hopefully this year I will get my hands on some more plants. Quite lucky where I live, as I'm only a few miles from P&J plants formally Marston Exotics, and just recently today found another seller in the Neath Valley. So not too far away. So thought I would introduce my self, offer my limited advice, and learn a lot more from the people of this forum. Thanks for having me Steve
