  1. I can't read Belgium either but Dutch/Flemish I can manage It says that there is free parking in front. See you there
  2. Looks like maybe Impatiens glandulifera. Seedpods will explode when ripe, so if you dry them before that and add water I would think they should act like on the video.
  3. Just a quick update. Preparations are going well but unfortunately out webmaster had some delays (external causes). That means that you can expect the webpage with info by the end of August. Sorry for the delay, but I am glad we started early Looking forward to seeing you all
  4. As far as I know, the whole of Europe is 1 CITES-area. That means that a plant that is legal in Belgium can be taken to the UK without trouble. For species on the endangerd list you should have papers to proof the plant is nursery grown, but your run of the mill CP shouldn't be a problem. Best result on a plane is barerooted wrapped in tissuepaper (moist) and in plastic in your handluggage. (at least for Sars and neps). See you in Gent
  5. Carnivora and the Hortus botanicus Leiden are proud to host the 2010 International Carnivorous Plant Society Conference in Leiden, The Netherlands. The conference will take place in and around (walking distance) the botanical garden, located in the heart of historical Leiden. The conference will be held from the 6th up to and including the 8th of August 2010, while the 9th and 10th of August are reserved for (optional) excursions. The conference will be accompanied by plant sales (during the conference with International sellers) and an educational exhibition from the 6th till the 16th of August. Information can be found on the Carnivora website: www.carnivora.nl in a special section which will be available from July 2009 by clicking the button on the homepage. The website will start with general information on the botanical gardens, information on places to stay and what else to see and other useful travel info. Registration will also be done on the website, this will start when the excursions program and the basic list of lectures are ready. The expectation is that this will be from around October 2009. For general questions the following e-mail address is available: [email protected] We hope you will be able to join us in The Netherlands.
  6. Not THE oldest, but of respectable age Carnivora, the Dutch CPS founded 1986
  7. Very interesting tests you are doing Isao-san. Have you tried isolating the suspect substance from the mucus? I think if you use alcohol instead of water you would deal with the mucus-glue and slightly damping in the remaining liquid would give you a concentrated substance with the maybe insecticide -components in it to test out. Kind regards, Marcel
  8. This only looks like a normal forum, but it is the website of bohemica. See this topic: http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index.php?s...amp;hl=bohemica
  9. Hi Rich, RO will also take care of the calcium. You say 100 US gallon sounds good, does that mean you really need that much? There are cheaper systems that fit easy on any tap and you can use the waste water to flush the toilet etc. That is a good thing as it will produce several litres of waste water to 1 litre of pure water. You can also only let it run to fill up the water butts if it isn't raining. main thing, it is much cheaper than the big sets. Here is a good European company for small sets (former president of the Dutch CPS who set up shop in France): http://www.vivaria.nl/vivaria/?get=menu&am...=menu_water.xsl
  10. Oxalis triangularis, looks like cultivar 'Myke' Some say O. triangularis should now be named O. regnelli, but hey, I am old school
  11. I fully agree with Andy. If some has a problem with a society all societies I know off are more then willing to discuss things. Besides, if you want to change something it is better do something like volunteering for one of the many jobs done now by to few people instead of talking.
  12. Though I should be offended by the mixing up of my great native language with of all things German , as luck has it like most Dutch I'll get by in German. Erde does not mean dirt, but is standard potting soil like you use for your common windowsill houseplant Splitt is a sort of gravel, a collection of small stone material 3 till about 10 mm in size. I used to grow my aloes in a mix of equal parts of each sand, soil and gravel
  13. It is a little of both. crossing is not really free or random, but the basics are that they take 2 plants which look good and cross them. nice seedlings are grown and sometimes crossed again (and again, and again etc). If they have a plant with nice colours and that grows fast they put it in TC. Fact: the owner of Carniflora couldn't state what is in the cross even if you offered him big money. There are no records for most plants. You have to understand that this is a commercial nursery producing most of it's plants for the general public who doesn't care beyond that it's a sarracenia and IT EATS MEAT, Whow! Great plants, but not for the advanced growers, just a friendly priced way to start someone on a hobby
  14. Very well done Derek. I really have to make an effort to see the collection some day
  15. Marcello, I looked it up for you and the correct spelling on the original package is : Nepenthes smilesii Phu Kradung Thailand
  16. The location is correct. Sheila and John did a seedswap between the CPSseedbank and the Carnivoraseedbank. As I know the original donor I am sure the location is correct. The seeds were offered as smilesii. The confusion about the name started when text popped up claiming that smilesii was a subform of mirabilis or in another document that it is the same as anamensis . I gave up on what the proper name is and I just keep it as it was donated, but as I said the location is correct .
  17. I didn't have to pay extra, so us internationals are lucky On the size question, I like the A5.
  18. I have got mine today and no additional postage claims
  19. Mine is doing fine in live sphagnum against the dripping wall of a heliamphoratank. Lots of new leafgrowth.
  20. Lowest so far for me is minus 15 degrees C in the Netherlands, they should be able to go lower than that but the winters aren't what they used to be
  21. Do you have a more detailed picture or a picture of the leaf? From this "distance" my first impression is Plumbago auriculata. There are various colorshades, but they all have a pronounced main vain in every flowerpetal.
  22. Don't feel alone Andreas. I haven't got it yet either Waiting....
  23. Haven't seen it here on the mainland yet Fernando.
  24. Both filiformis and x California sunset are still growing in my garden. No signs of rest yet
