The greenhouse I'm getting is free, just needs taking down and moving to my garden. My current pot count is 25 including the 2 vft seed pots. I always wanted a vft and got one a few weeks back. The I got a sarracenia stevensii and it's just rapidly grown from there. I know I'll have to slow down at some point but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Might be a bit random but, I'm a new grower and interested to know how everyone built their collections. I started about a month or so ago. Got a greenhouse coming soon and have met a couple amazing people who are filling me with knowledge. I just wonder around their collection and say "I want that one" I'm just intrigued as to how everyone else started their collections from the start. Quick progress update. I already have signs of growth coming from some of the seeds. About 5 out of 50 so far. Looks like a little root coming from the seeds. I didn't expect anything this early... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks blocky, they are sheltered from the sun in the green house. But they do get light. I'm just worried about it getting too cold at night. I think night time temps are about 12 - 14c We don't get much sun here to be honest. It's gonna be summer soon though, someone told me it's going to be on a Tuesday this year. I see trev, a while before I'll be doing that then. Will my seeds be ok in the greenhouse now? They are in a water tray and Ive switched the cling film for a clear plastic cover. Which has small gaps for air circulation Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's another little lesson I've learned, how long should I microwave it for? I've put them out in the greenhouse now, covered with a propagator lid. Al be it a home made one. I've picked off the mould, I think a seed went with it. I'll get some of that spray and try that, thanks... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ive just checked in on my seeds now and there is mould beginning to form already. I presume this is due to poor air circulation. Would my seeds be ok in my green house? I live in Wales ant the top daytime temperature is about 17c at the moment. It's only a little 4 tier plastic house which I open during the day as I have other plants in there. How come you sow yours in individual celled trays Trev? I was advised not to do it that way.

There's so many different ways of doing things, I find it hard to decide what to do for the best. I think I'll keep doing what I am for now, then try something different next time. should I uncover them when the seedlings pop up? (If they pop up)

Thanks for your input guys, I've got clingfilm over the pots which I lift daily to get air in. Also poked a few holes in the film. I thought about just using sphagnum moss but thought they might just fall through it.

Morning everyone, i planted my first vft seeds yesterday. I've got approximately 50 seeds distributed between 2 pots. (50 in one pot just seemed too many in my mind) I've got them in Irish sphagnum peat moss mixed with perlite and they are stood in a tray of water each. Both pots are kept inside next to the tortoise table so the get warmth and light from him. Just wondering if there's anything more I can do to help them get a good start in life. I know it's a very slow process but I can't wait until the pop up. i will update here with any progress. thanks in advance for any help.

Hi guys, thanks for accepting me to this forum. im new to the carnivorous plant world. I bought a vft a couple weeks ago, just a common vft I'm told. I fell in love with it and now have a sarracenia stevensii and a dionaea akai ryu. (Sorry if that's spelt wrong. i think I'm now hooked as I want more. After visiting a garden full of them yesterday I'm amazed at how many different kinds there are. ill probably be on here loads now picking everyone's brains, hope that's ok? thanks in advance of any help you might give me.
