  1. Anyone familiar with any areas in South Wales, specifically Newport and surrounding area, where carnivorous plants can be found in the wild?
  2. *It was because (sorry!) May or may not be the same thing happening in the pictured plant.
  3. I have a similar thing happening with one of my larger plants; it's because of small new growth points forming at the sides of the parent plant
  4. Today noticed some holes in a couple of the traps on one of my plants along with some silk. Found at least one of the culprits in one of the damaged portions; a small grey caterpillar. Do caterpillars typically damage Sarracenia, and what species of moth/butterfly is it likely to be? I'm not overly concerned if one or two traps are lost, but if the problem continues what pesticide could I use which wouldn't damage the plants?
  5. I've got what look like similar sphagnum sprouts in my pots popping up, hopefully I can start a tray up ^^
  6. Have been reading up recently on colchicine/oryzalin and their use in plant breeding (specifically in Drosera hybrids) to produce fertile (otherwise infertile) hybrids by chromosome doubling. Where (if at all) can these chemicals be acquired safely and legally? I'm aware oryzalin is a component in some herbicides but am unable to source any from the UK. Thanks, Rob.
  7. Recently picked up a couple of unlabelled Sarracenia from Wyevale garden centre and was wondering if anyone is a dab-hand at identifying species I believe the first is S. leucophylla, and that the second is some hybrid of S. purpurea?
  8. Thanks! Agreed it looks very similar to rubrifolia
  9. My first post as a member, so bear with me Bought the pictured sundews from triffidnurseries.co.uk labelled as D. spatulata, however the left-hand plant has a slightly different leaf shape/colouring than the rest of the plants. Also, the flower scape is significantly taller than the rest of the other plants. Just a natural variation within the species, or is it possible another plant seeded itself alongside the spatulata?
