  1. You're slipping Mike - I'm sure I can spot some empty space in the right hand greenhouse extension... I guess that's already earmarked for something or other.
  2. What a fantastic species. The genus is one that coudl easily become as addictive and collectable as Sarracenia.
  3. Plants that are red don't generally lack chlorophyll - it is just concealed by the red pigment. I would also take issue with keeping VFTs in darkness over the winter - mine sit in the greenhouse year around. The temperature drop, rather than lack of light, is the important part of dormancy IMHO. I do like the 'look' of the site - you've obviously put thought into the design.
  4. Spectacular! Is it more free flowering than either parent?
  5. Great pictures of some beautifully-grown plants. VFTs are really starting to look good and have overtaken the Sarras in my greenhouse. Hopefully, we're looking forward to a long growing season this year which can only be good for VFTs.
  6. Well that one looks nothing like my plant! :-)
  7. I grow them in heavy clay, in light shade. They certainly don't grow like an infestation and I guess I'm growing them at their limits of tolerance as they always flower well but are slow to spread.
  8. That looks very much like mine Jim, also from the same source.
  9. So where does this leave the clone being sold by PJ? It certainly looks v similar in form to the first pictures. It does darken in colour through the season, but I can't recall much white.
  10. Great! Mine are still buds at the moment. I agree with the comments on smell though - must be quite pungent!
  11. Point taken Vic - I'm in birder mode having just finished writing up my last trip to the Andamans (species number 4810!) Alexis - I would still use the 'x' for clarity, even with intraspecific crosses if they are of defined types or clones.
  12. Some lovely flower shots, in particular, and I love the face that your VFTs are displayed so neatly and orderly. Something I can identify with :-)
  13. I thought it was something you'd found in your garden (a 'tick' - wish I'd got Stag Beetles in mine). I wasn't implying it was a tick in the arachnid sense....
  14. Nice buff petals on your x moorei Scottleroc. Are there any pitchers yet? I do like the Stag Beetle too - was that a garden tick?
  15. :vomit: I much prefer the beautiful simplicity of the typical forms.
  16. It certainly is a nice form and incredibly generous with its flowers. A good plant Stephen! :-)
  17. I agree with Stephen - looking very nice indeed. Mine has yet to open its first pitchers of the year.
  18. There's not any noticeable flava influence in pitchers for a first generation moorei either....
  19. Great plants Joel - the Blackwater looks like it's going to colour up v nicely.
  20. And I sympathise with the cat issue - one of mine ate a 3 year old S. flava seedling including the whole rhizome...
  21. At least the plants will always be handy....
  22. Interesting. The last photo would not look out of place in an abstract gallery!
  23. It's great when the plants start to shine again after a winter of looking past their best. I love the spring.
