  1. Thanks for the name, it really is amazing.
  2. Hi François, Thanks for the corrections, it's much appreciated. I'm happy you were able to help me with some corrections as I wasn't quite sure about some of the Id's. Interesting that the plant I thought was a hybrid is actually just a pure rafflesiana, however now you mention it it makes perfect sense. Once again, thanks for the help. Anyway, here are some pictures I took on Kinabalu! Nepenthes mirabilis Rafflesia keithii (76 cm diameter!) Platerodrilus Nepenthes Fusca Tentaculata (kinabalu) fusca tentaculata
  3. Thanks everyone, just realised I forgot a few, I'll add them as soon as I can. As for the sundews, I'll try and find a clearer picture to help id them, thanks for the help so far
  4. Here are some more pictures, the following were taken at Semenggoh Nature Reserve, where I also saw Orangutans. The picture of the Proboscis monkey was taken at Bako. Nepenthes Ampullaria Gracilis Statue of an Orangutan holding a Nepenthes pitcher. Orangutans Proboscis monkey(at Bako National park). Unknown Nepenthes which seemed like it may have been planted there (at Semenggoh).
  5. Hello, Just came back from a fantastic trip to Borneo, and of course saw a bunch of beautiful neps. So, I thought I'd show a few of my hundreds of photos. If someone's interested in more photos I probably have a bunch more I didn't post[emoji6] . In this post, I'm showing you the plants from Bako national park, Sarawak. I definitely took the most photos here and they were probably the best plants on the trip. More photos of the other locations will follow soon(mostly single isolated plants). (Several names corrected thanks to comment by François, if anything else is still wrong let me know) Nepenthes hirsuta Nepenthes albomarginata Nepenthes hirsuta Nepenthes albomarginata Nepenythes gracilis Nepenthes gracilis Nepenthes rafflesiana Rafflesiana upper pitcher Rafflesiana intermediate pitcher Gracilis Very dark rafflesiana lower pitcher Rafflesiana Nice rafflesiana uppers Gracilis in flower Rafflesiana Gracilis Ampullaria Huge rafflesiana with nice dark purple leaves Rafflesiana Gracilis Drosera spathulata var. bakoensis Miniature gracilis Albomarginata (I hope the post is clear, if not let me know)
  6. How many Guinea pig droppings would you recommend per pitcher? Amount doesn't matter as I have an infinite supply anyway
  7. Look great! I didn't know about Guinea pig droppings, but I have 2 so I'll definitely give it a go[emoji6]
  8. Sounds good! Less slugs and better purps! Just popped a few in[emoji3]
  9. Wow, those are all some big purps! I'll see how the plant does next year, to see if it's more red. In any case, I'll be putting some snacks into the pitchers to see whether that helps it to bulk up. Verstuurd vanaf mijn Nexus 5X met Tapatalk
  10. Hi Ada, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure why it's so green to be honest, as my flava atropurpurea and rubricorpora have coloured up nicely? I guess I'll wait and see how it develops during the rest of the year
  11. Hello, I was curious as to how big purpurea's can be. I've put myself on the wishlist for a large form from chipola with Mike King, but how big do the giant forms get? 2 years ago I got a small purpurea from a friend which is bigger than my other 3 purpurea so I was wondering whether this was possibly a larger or giant form of the species. I've added a picture with a ruler for scale. I don't know whether this is a var. Burkii, as the plant is flowering for the first time this year so I haven't seen an open flower yet. Thanks in advance for any replies[emoji1]
  12. Ah, now I see, hopefully the plants survive and you end up with lots of psitts, and if not, I hope a suitable solution is found.
  13. I don't see whats wrong with the plant? Looks healthy in my opinion
  14. I have bought plants from Araflora on several occasions, and have never been disappointed. The plants I received were always healthy and big. I have bought dionaea and sarracenia from him, and every single one is alive and has grown vigorously since the day I got them (except one that was stolen by a bird). And if you have problems or complaints, did you ever try contacting him about it? Every time I've ever spoken with him he was very friendly and helpful. I haven't ever had bad experiences with Gert, and he's definitely one of my favorite sellers.
  15. A few metres (2 or 3) they had also dug drainage ditches, probably to make the cutting of the peat easier. In my time in Ireland, I also saw lots of other bogs that were being cut away, I was really surprised to see how much was being destroyed of the bogs. I also visited Woodfield bog near Clara, and on one side of the road there were machines destroying the bog. However, on the other side of the road the bog was fine and there were huge amounts of purps and Darlingtonia. That part of the bog was so wet, that I sunk up to my knees when I stepped onto a wet spot next to the plants! As far as I know, most of it is being cut away by Bord na mona, who sell it for burning. I also happened to visit a garden centre when I was there and I thought it was kind of strange that the garden centre didn't sell any peat for plants whatsoever, but they did sell blocks from Bord na mona for your fireplace!
  16. Visited Termonbarry today, had some trouble finding the sarracenia at first and only managed to find sphagnum and drosera rotundifolia. After some driving around and walking through the bog I managed to find a handful of sarracenia purpurea, I was actually quite surprised that I only found a dozen or so plants, and it didn't look like they'd be there for long. Less than 100 meters away the bog was being cut away and the soil around the purps was very dry and there were more dead dried up purps than nice healthy ones. And on top of that, most of the sphagnum moss was dead. Anyway, here are a few pictures, one or two more of the same plants following in a week or two.
  17. Hello, A couple of photographs from my plants, nothing spectacular yet, but I will be updating this thread throughout the entire growing season Some pictures from last year, And some pictures from this year
  18. Hello everyone, As I'm going to Ireland in a couple of weeks, I was wondering whether anyone knows a nice location with cp's. I'll be passing Roscommon and on several growlists I've seen purps listed from Roscommon. I also read in the book "Carnivorous plants of Britain and Ireland" that there are darlingtonia to be found, and I would love to see darlingtonia if possible. Preferably locations that you've seen recently or that you know still exist, as I don't have a massive amount of time to go looking all over the countryside incase something happened to the site. If someone knows a nice location I'd love to hear from you, a message by pm is also appreciated if you don't want to share the location. Thanks in advance, Rory
  19. I personally cut away the pitcher to a small amount under the brown bit. If 1/3 of the pitcher is brown I usually cut half of the pitcher off. The pitchers that look healthy are just left on completely, at least until the plant has produced new pitchers to replace them

    silica sand?

Tried this and aquarium sand for my pygmy drosera, and the plants in the pool filter sand are doing great so far, I've also planted some sarracenia in this sand to see how they do this summer. Might be difficult to see, but the pot on the right has the pool filter sand. In that pot the plants are way healthier, lots of new growth etc. and in the other pot (with gemmae that were planted 3 weeks earlier) the plants haven't even made a carnivorous leaf yet. The pot on the right also has less algae. (Sorry for the bad picture, quickly took it with my phone) I never tested the sand (simply forgot) and so far it seems to be fine.
  21. Finally got my money back, it took a while but at least the problem is solved now
  22. Just made a facebook account and sent him a message, hopefully the problem will be solved soon. I guess getting facebook was inevitable............
  23. Which email did he mention? Because he didn't answer any emails on [email protected]
  24. Hello, More than 2 months ago (almost 3) I ordered and paid for some plants on this webshop, but I haven't heard since. I sent an email, called him on several occasions and sent him a pm via the dutch forum, but he never responded or picked up. Does anyone else have any problems with this webshop or know of ways to contact him other than the ways listed on his website? Thanks,
  25. Rory
