  1. I disagree with the humidity comments. Mine is growing here in Texas and the during the summer, the humidity never gets above 60%, even at night. Just mist it once or twice a day and it will grow fine and pitcher like crazy in the high heat. Just don't let the temps drop below 65F or it will grow slower than a sleepy snail moves. If the temps drop below 60F, it will actually get damage from the cold.

  2. Most of my Venus Flytraps are now emerging from dormancy, in New Mexico, US. Just wanted to post a quick photo I took several minutes ago of several containers of them including DC XL, FTS Towering Giant and SD Kronos.

  3. I'm also interested on reliable seed sellers in Europe. I've had contacts with a seller from Canada but it feels better for the germinating chances to find someone closer.

  4. Well I wondered about doing this, as well, I would love to but we would need a few more people. I could ask around the orchid society. I live in dollar and am also willing to open greenhouse for people to come and visit! Also willing to help and to bring some plants for people to look at! Somebody from the orchid society told me that there used to be a Scottish carnivorous society, so there are bound to be a few more people interested in cp's, Thanks Oliver Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Here it is. I didn't want start a thread just for this pic, but I will post it here temporarily until you have seen it. Only 10 cm tall, but I wish it was squatter (might change though). I like the distinctly ribbed peristome. Got hooked on this cross after seeing EP's plants, and the late Phill Mann had some really nice specimens too. From what I read BE's seed were from an Aussie source, but I don't know which N. maxima was used though. Regards, Christer

  6. I use a 1.5kw oil filled radiator that keeps my Nepenthes at a low as 8c and up to 25c in winter.I do not have a fogger yet,but I do give them a good soaking over summer not in winter as the humidity is high.I keep bubble wrap on my glasshouse all year long. Bigger pitchers in winter, small summer pitchers.

  9. Snap CephFan, my son threw a large stick for His dog today and it just bounced off the polycarbonate in the greenhouse, we laughed- I wouldn't have found it so funny if I'd got glass in it. I'm not sure about polycarbonate's light transmission, but it seems thankfully strong. Phil

  11. cold doesn't affect them that much, they are pretty tough.Just some species are more prone to its affect. I have just picked up on a small point you and ady touch on earlier, now this might cause upset again but needs saying you have paid for your plants to be tested but ady said he hasn't had a copy of the results, did he share the costs? this is not a get at anyone question, just a fair question. If he shared the costs,he deserves a copy of the report. If not he has to go on what you say.If you bare all the cost, worry, hassle and no doubt other sh** you have had to endure it should be good enough. If he pays his half then he deserves the full report to put his mind at rest and end this topic which i think is now getting a bit ridiculous. Everyone needs to learn from it and move on,accept something has happened in ady's greenhouse beyond his control and knowledge that we all need to be aware of. ada

  14. Whilst replacing some glass in mine I added a new, and remarkably clean, pane. Shortly after adding it I put my hand through it to clip in another pane. One more cut and one less pane... The moral of the story is either "Use polycarbonate" or "Don't try to reach through glass"

  17. White LEDs are made of blue leds, not red. White LED = blue led with a filter.
