Hello everyone

I'm having some doubts regarding the ID of this plant, bought it more or less 3 years ago here in CP UK as being Catopsis berteroniana, it has that characteristic white powder, but might be Catopsis morreniana, since flowers were white and it has more than one bud in the mother plant. Anyone can give the reight ID?

I have had this plant for a little more than a year,it came as a seed in an order of a few dionaea from Araflora and sprouted a few weeks later,it grew very well in full sun with my flytraps.

This week i noticed it suffered from the cold in the greenhouse so it is inside the house now in its own pot.

I have heard it´s possible to grow these plants from leaf cuttings especially brocchinia reducta . Propably propagation is similar to propagation of drosera petiolaris comlex, so young seedlings should grow up from base near the plant

What is your opinion to these sentences ?

I heard recently from a highly reliable source in Norfolk - no, not Norfolk, Virginia - that B. tatei is now classed as a carnivore.

Intrigued, I did a spot of research:

Most sources say don't mention B. tatei among the carnivorous bromeliads, but several sources still list it as a possible carnivore (e.g. 1, 2).

Wikipedia states that "one terrestrial population of B. tatei was discovered with heterocystous cyanobacteria in its tanks, suggesting N fixation." But the presence of bacteria could also suggest a digestive capability, as in Heliamphora?

Does anyone have an authoritative answer?

Does anyone have any experience separating these. I have a Brocchinia plant that is currently flowering which has so far produced three pups, the largest of which is approx 10cm tall. What is the correct time to separate? When the time is right, is it simply a case of ripping the pup away from the mother plant and planting in a new pot?

Cheers,

Hello,

So, is Brocchinia reducta highlander? I know some populations grow side by side with Heliamphoras, but is the clone in cultivation a highlander? Would it do better in a highland terrarium than a lowland? I would grow it with epiphytic utrics and helis.
