Increasingly, a favorite Heliamphora species in recent years, is H. chimantensis, "recently" described (http://www.carnivorousplants.org/cpn/Speci...31n3p78_82.html) and in cultivation less than a decade. Its cloying floral fragrance and overabundance of nectar has bees and wasps swarming the plants by June. My older plants have produced viable seed on occasion; but apparently, this species seems more dependent upon division for reproduction in the field -- along the order of Darlingtonia . . .

Are your plants growing outdoors all year round, or do you put them in a terrarium during the winter months? Do they get direct sunlight outdoors, or are they in part shade?

The plants grow outside, year round in SF, since our winters are not that cold; and they receive direct sun for a portion of the day and are sheltered by trees and the house itself for the balance . . .
