Nice looking sundews. You have a good collection, thanks for sharing.

Hello,

You have some very nice Drosera!

I think your D. ascendens "Ribeirão Pires" Should be Drosera ascendens "São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil"

I also think your D. ascendens "Caminho do Mar" comes from the same location, but im not 100% sure.

Regards,

Anderson

Gorgeous plants!

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone.

@Anderson Alves
Ah thanks, interesting. Why do you think so? And is there even a "Ribeirão Pires" form ?

We'll see when the one labeled "Caminho do Mar" colours up and gets bigger.

Great plants. Do you use lights and/or a terrarium?

Hi Petr,

is a great collection, very healthy!
I like much these SA droseras and heliamphora. woot.gif

Comments:

1) Drosera ascendens. São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil:

It's the correct location of 'Ribeirão Pires' (by GPS).

2) Drosera ascendens (Caminho do Mar)

'Caminho do Mar' is +/- = 'Road of sea' or 'Way of sea', isn't a specific city (in São Paulo State, Brazil, I suspect).

3) Drosera tomentosa (Serra do Caraça, MG, Brazil).

Regards.

Thanks guys,

Yup lights, only the heliamphora is grown in a terrarium.

Thanks for the clarification Carlos. It's always cool to hear from someone more "involved" ;-) Now it finnaly makes sense to me with the "ex Ribeirão Pires" thing. Much appreciated!

Petr,

Sorry for the confusion with plant location names, it's all my fault, hehehe! Around 20 years ago (Sept. 1990?) I 1st visited the site that I initially called Caminho do Mar, which was the name of the road alongside which I found the plants. A few years later I added the municipality of Ribeirão Pires, which a friend told me was correct for that location. And finally 2-3 years ago, I revisited this site (for the nth time) with my friend Paulo Gonella and we marked a GPS position for it (which I don't think I'd ever done before simply because it was so familiar to me). When we mapped the GPS coordinates we noticed that the location was actually inside the municipality of Sao Bernardo do Campo.

So we decided to begin recommending that people change the location names on their labels -- better late than never, right? :) Therefore, if any of you have D.ascendens or other CP species labelled "Caminho do Mar" or Ribeirão Pires, you're better off changing this to São Bernanrdo do Campo (which is just east of São Paulo City, in São Paulo state, SE Brazil).

Best Wishes,
Fernando Rivadavia
