I've got highland terra with neps inside but it looks a bit empety at the moment. So I'd like to put there 2 or 3 orchids. But which ones to choose? Conditions in terra are: temps 21-24 C at day 15-17 C at night, humidity about 70% at day 85 and more % at night.
I haven't grow any orchids before so these should be easy to keep and look nicely :)
Which orchids would you advice me to buy?

Hello,

Your day temperatures are highland while your night temperatures are definetly pushing lowland-I would firstly either make the night temperatures lower(about 10 Celcius) or the day temperatures higher(to about 28 Celcius) so you have either a proper highland terrarium or a proper lowland one. The trouble is at the moment, the orchids which like the night temperatures which you have will sulk with the day temperatures because they are not high enough, while the ones that like your day temperatures will gradually die off because it will be too hot for them in the night.

When you have decided what to do I will be able to give you more information. :)

your Temperatures are nice for most intermediate to cool, tropical orchids. There are some genera which shares the same cultural needs of the CPs, like high humidity enviroment, all time damp growing media and bright light.

In these terms you can try:

Genus Masdevallia, Dracula, Restrepia, Pleurothallis, Dryadella, Lankesterella, Ponthieva, octomeria, habenaria can be all grown in sphagnum moss like CPs. Masdevallia and Dracula are big flowered genus.

Genus Disa. The uniflora, tripetaloides aurata and their hybrids can be also grown in the same fashion. But they require a subtropical - temperate daylight change regimen troughout the seasons.

You can also try the genus Sophronitis, Hoffmansegella and laelia (the mexican ones) . But these orchids require a well drawn media and a 4 month dry season to thrive well.

Well, that's pretty much it.

You could try Vanda denisoniana or Doritis species, they should be ok also.

PS For me the temps look close, but not quite typical highland, i.e. genting or cameron highlands, typically 15-25c
