The teeth look a lot less blunt than a lot of the other pictures of this 'Red Pirahna' I've seen - is it another case of more than one plant circulatiing under the same name, or is there a degree of variability of growth pattern within the one true clone?

I just took a close look at my 'Red Piranha' that I received some time ago from Ed Read (yes, the guy that registered the cultivar). The teeth vary on leaves growing on the same plant. Some leaves are more sawtooth, others more sharktooth. My guess is perhaps the teeth shape may be related to the time of year when that leaf formed -- as does petiole length and shape.
