After much fussing and drama over the last two years, several of my Stapeliads are flowering, so I thought I'd start a thread for them. I know they're strange, but it's not like I collect Utrics or anything. Oh, wait, I do have several Utrics.. man, I must be really, really needy. Or boring.

This one smells like the steer manure you get at garden centers, not at all as vile as the last one I posted.

I always feel that foul smelling plants are underated! I used to grow a Stapelia many years ago but it died... but great to see others having more luck!

Duvalia compacta, my first Duvalia flower!

What an odd looking flower the Duvalia compacta is. It looks like a poppy seed pod with spikes. I love the stapeliad flower though.

Funny how they're so different, but all look like starfish. This particular Duvalia doesn't have a scent, though, at least not one I could pick up.

Fussing? I grow a stepeliad sp. in my back yard that flowers every october great halloween bouquets if you don't mind the stench!

which we can't do in the UK unfortunately, too cold and damp. Even in a greenhouse they often succumb...
