I have several ripe looking seed pods on my B gigantea plants. Does anyone know whether it is necesary to wait until they open on their own before harvesting? They are dry, and the flower stalks that bore them are also whithered and dry. I obtained a little seed from my plants last year, which germinated very poorly. Perhaps I harvested it too early? I accidentally opened one of the seed pods the other day, and the seed looks much larger than last year's, if that's any help?
Cheers.

Is B. liniflora self pollinating?
There are several flowers on it for the moment.
Ps. Sorry for disturbing this thread

Hi,
Yes, B liniflora is self pollinating, although if you tease the flowers with a toothpick, you will get more seed. Note that B filifolia is not self pollinating- if your plants have several flowers open at one time, they may be B filifolia. It is much larger than B liniflora, and the flowers are also much larger.
Cheers,
