My darlingtonia is growing like a charm. It's simply growing to well. In the center of the pot it's a bush of new pitchers.
I still have last season pitchers, the stems are still green, but the hoods are dark brown. If i got rid of those, there will be more room for new pitchers.
So the question is: Should i remove the last season pitchers, or should i keep them?

Thanks in advance

Martijn

Darlingtonia naturally become crowded as they grow. I simply remove dead sections, but yes you could take out the whole leaf if you want.

And doing so will not hurt the plant much?

Personally, I would not do it as it involves removing active photosynthetic area which is still of value to the plant. However, you are unlikely to do any harm as long as you remove the old leaves carefully.

Just remove the dead material (carefull).

It must be a good source from were you bought the plant!   (sorry, couldn't resist myself   )
