yellow dionaea

I loved the pictures of your yellow Dionaea Fabrice :Laie_71mini: , this is a really unusual coloring in this genus / species of CP :wacko1: . Tell if the plant conveys this characteristic to the seeds it produces?

Best regards,

Rodrigo

My yellow dionaea is getting orange under full sun. So it is yellow only in winter and in spring, that is tricky. I would like to have true yellow one. Thumbs up!

Very nice additional photos Fabrice! I like the contrast with the green and red Dionaea next to your beautiful yellow one!

I'm sure we're all wanting a truly yellow VFT, with the two plants seen here there is hope on the horizon.

It certainly is! There should be some available in the EU this year some time.

I love this one, you have some great plants, it's a damn shame shipping to the UK is just about impossible.

Thanks! Yes, shipping and Phyto. Cert. costs are very expensive, but not impossible. Quite a few people have picked one up already from us:

Also, there is a person in the UK who has ordered quite a few flytraps in large flasks for the intention of resale. One of them was FTS Yellow, I believe, so they should be available soon there in the EU.

One word of caution: The FTS Yellow is an extremely weak grower. I think it's the lack of chlorophyll that is the cause for the yellow coloration and the weak growth. Even experienced growers have reported trouble keeping theirs alive, much less growing well.

Almost all my vfts are dormants right now, i probably have a couple of yellowish and pale green in the fridg. And after looking your picture again, mine are probably not very yellow, at least not as yours or matt's plants.

To tell the truth, i had 30 germinations last spring, and i discard the ones who are weak at the first repotting. For me, a yellow seedling is weak since the plant grow slower compared to others.

And i wanted to grow from seeds to adult in 6 months so i didnt need the weak ones.

WOW! That's almost as fast as tissue culture...

I'm not a member of that forum so I'll ask here: Does your Terrarium have artificial light and heat? Will you allow them dormancy?

In your last post on Terraforums you said

"Once the plants have strong roots system, i dont think the watering method is very important. What is more important is to avoid water logued soil all the time. I keep my plants on the dryside because i grow them in 90%RH."

What is 90%RH ?
