My name is Tim and I grew my first carnivorous plant about 25 years ago, and I have been reading the posts on this forum for some time, so I thought it was jolly well time that I signed up!
Hello to everyone, and thank you for sharing your knowledge - it has been very helpful!
I started with Sarracenia species, and a few Drosera, in my teens but the collection dwindled sharply during the 'uni years' as I was moving around a bit. At the moment, the smallish collection consists of Nepenthes, Drosera, Dionaea, some token Sarracenia, one Pinguicula and just recently some Cephalotus. Nothing too exotic, but I enjoy them all.
They reside in the conservatory and 'the grow room' - ex-office converted in the back of the garage under fluorescent lights, where they seem to thrive! The Nepenthes come indoors under lights for the winter...
I have had some success with Drosera in 'kitchen' tissue culture (no hormones) - and even more failures! But it's a challenge, as they say...
