I have a copy of the CPS "A guide to growing carnivorous plants" and on the Sarracenia page it stats 8 species. However, on the International Carnivorous Plant society website they state 11 species.

Which is correct/ If the book cps book is wrong, I wonder if they are going to print a revised edition with up-to-date information.

    Getting a better Sarracenia collection.
I depends on if you class Jonesii as a species, or a subspecies of Rubra, just like Alabamensis, and Rosea (That's for Purpurea)

It's all a matter of opinion.

Really the only 'correct' answer in these situations is "between 8 and 11 species, depending on whose classification you follow".
These debates about where to draw the lines between species pop up all over the plant kingdom, are largely subjective and constantly changing with new techniques and evidence. When it comes to classification almost nothing is concrete.
