Hello all
I'm pinguicula lover.
I've collected many Mexican pings.
But I have been troubled with crown rot disease.
I use trichoderma harzianum and feed dried bloodworm to prevent this disease, but little or no effect.

What's should I do for my pins?

(I'm sorry for my bad English)

I find that pinguicula get this disease when you keep them too wet.

I know a couple of british growers who have had this and it spreads rapidly. They both lost a lot of plants, one has given up on mexican pings due to this.
I would get rid of all infected plants, water less and increase air flow and ventilation.

Hi Gaon,at first never feed your pings !Try to grow them very slowly .
Plants are to wet to ,i think.Wat ground you use?
If you use to match peat ,plants go grow to fast and become weak, only give water when dry and wait again til she are dry up before watering again, never watering from above, use the try methode.
Mine stay in water for only a few hours ,then i wait till pot s feel dry up,it s depend on the weather.
i use 80% sand(whitout calc)10% perliet and 10% peat.

I not know if this is the real brown heart disease,it s looks more like overwatered or to match sun.brown heart disease ,you lost your plants in a day and have not the time for do something.

Better set the plants that not looks OK in Quirantine, like mention above if it s the brown heart disease then it s very dangerous for lost them all,i not think there is a cure for this,it s like the botritis on sarras or the strange disease on VFT s and heliamphora, you can only try to prevent this,

Cheers Will

Thank you for your kind advice.

But I have one question.

When water stay for to long in the crown plants can be rotting, this is a problem for all plants that make rozets ,so better give water from below ,plants like it when she can stay in water for a few days to,if she stay outside its of no matter ,wind dry the rozet very quicly,

Hi!

Will raises some interesting points. In my opinion it is necessary to secure a fluffy substrate. It is also important to have a good air circulation above the substrate. Another point is the heat. Especially when the soil is very wet and you have some hot days with stagnating air brown heart disease appears quite often.
I usually water my plants from above, because the grow within plastic bowls, but if you have an airy situation for your plants this is no problem.
So keep up growing and try to increase air movement and maybe a little less water.

Cheers Chris

Do you keep your plants in some kind of aquarium or just sitting in the room? I have all of my mexican pings on the windows without any kind of covering and so far so good. I would recommend you to do it too. I mostly agree with Will, i also never water from above and i have an airy substrate (mix of crushed travertine, limestone debris, perlite, silica sand and a little of peat for calcium loving species and crushed lava rock, perlite, silica sand and a little of peat for others) moreover, i keep my plants potted not in pots but in a large lava rock with holes for them. The lava rock is sitting in the water tray and plants get only the sufficient water they need, not more. I believe it helps to keep the water regime around them on appropriate level. It is also possible, that the porous lava rock cools down the plants due to evaporation from the whole surface during the hot days.
Good luck with your plants

Hi
Thank to everyone.
Your advices are very helpful for me.
A few day later, I will take pictures of my cultvation and  seek more information and advice.

Chris, You know, Dongsu living in South Korea.... It's me. :D
Thank you for your advice.
I'm planning to place air circulation fan in my pinguicula growing space.
And, can I ask what you mean 'fluffy substrate'?

Cheers Gaon
