This is the first year the squirrels have not used my sunflowers as a ladder into my vegetable garden. The sunflowers are blooming their little hearts out, but they got knocked over during a storm and now they stems bend down and back up and the plants are only a couple of feet tall. I only get to see them when I'm in the back of my vegetable garden. As much as I enjoy having a secret garden, I want to enjoy them when I'm not tying up tomatoes. So as hard as it is for me to cut flowers out of my garden, I'm considering it serendipity and bringing them into the house. Lovely.
