I've been growing the 'typical' form of Darlingtonia Californica for many years and they grow very well for me. They flower every year and send babies up all round the edges of the pots so I know the conditions are correct.

BUT .......  my D.C. Othello (all green clone) just doesn't do anything - do they need different conditions ?  It starts to form a tiny little new bit of growth ( a couple of millimeters)  but then it just stops.

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks.
D.

welcome to the challenging world of Othello...I can only relate my own experience, where I had a small plant of Othello which did nothing for years then slowly withered away and died. I have since obtained different, seed-grown stock, which is a complete contrast and is growing well, with a few rhizome offshoots. So, it may just be your clone...

Othello is challenging!  I have grown 3 different plants,a blackbird stole the first one to build its nest with.
The second one just collapsed and died in about 4 hours when semi mature.
The third one, which produced a good few stolons and should have been flowering size this year again collapsed for no reason in early winter.I have managed to save a small piece which did nothing for months but is now growing again.

It seems o.k when small but as it matures the problems start.i.e nothing changes as regards growing conditions/position but it just has a death wish built it as it matures.
If i can keep it alive to flowering i'll let you know what i've done different this time.
