How do you guys store rain water? Can it be bottled and if so how long will it stay fresh for? I dont really have room for storing it outside but have collected plenty during the recent storms, with more on its way tonight!

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

I'm guessing you don't need much water, I don't think the wife would let me turn the spare room into a water storage area. You would need to stop daylight from turning your water into green soup so store in a cool dark place. If you're storing in bottles just make sure there are no contaminants left in the bottle, in other words make sure you drink the whole bottle!

I have about 4000 litres of storage in water butts, over winter and into spring some of it must be well over six months old, but it doesn't seem to cause a problem. Just keep your containers clean and use the oldest first.

I have 9 vft's and a couple of other plants that need it at the mo.

Thanks for your advice. I will store some in the garage out of the way. Was just planning ahead for when the summer kicks in!

I was talking about keeping the water in the garage when I have bottled it up.

Summer? What is that? I have a vague recollection of days when the sun came out and it got warm, was that called summer? So long ago it's hard to remember.
