I take it a genuine clone is that which has come from the original plant, ok, not rocket science yet. If you have two clones of the same plant, and they produce seed, are they genuine clones or just someone taking advantage of naivety..we are talking Dionaea here, as we know there are quite a few variations, and there is a lot of seed for sale usually. Thank you for reading and putting me straight.

Clones cannot produce genetically identical plants from seeds, either by selfing or crossing two plants of the same clone.
They can only be propagated by vegetative means.
For example, take a leaf cutting of B52 and you will have more B52 plants.
But seeds of B52 x B52 will not germinate to produce more plants of B52. They may be similar but they aren't identical.

James, thank you very much for your help, its what I thought but just wanted to make sure, you know there are always lots of people selling seeds on the ebay and one can get led to belief for a moment that .... well it speaks for itself. If you want genuine plants then you must buy them off genuine people or plant lovers. Thanks again. best regards Ben

Yes unfortunately people selling things as what they are not means that there can be many false plants around which results in confusion, disappointment and a complete mess.

Yes, what a mess, is there an answer, ie just stick to the CPUK, or maybe always enquire where their clone came. At the end of the day what do you do, or your colleagues for that matter, I should imagine there is not alot that you do not know about or have not heard about or maybe have not already got. Thanks again for your wisdom, best regards Ben.
