i know this may seem a strange/stupid question but here goes anyway....

Is live sphagnum moss the same as the "fresh" bagged stuff you get for hanging baskets?

If not...any idea where I can get hold of it?

Kind regards in anticipation of answers!!

As far as im aware most of the stuff bagged and sold for hanging baskets is not that "fresh" , However if you look around the net there are people who have managed to cultivate from bags of "dead" moss.
Look around , you find some places selling 8-10 strands of live moss, which will be freshly picked at the time of purchase and sent to you to attempt to keep growing.
Ive seen the bags in a local garden centre but have never tried it.

I bought a couple of bags in Aldi which were labelled Sphagnum and indeed are.  I'm assuming it's live.  It was suitably damp and green.  Not like stuff that's been rehydrated.
