Hello, a fairly new hobby for me although I have been interested in gardening and plants for twenty years or more now. I had two venus fly traps last year but unfortunately lost them this winter due to poor dormancy advice, basically I kept them too wet and they rotted  :moderator: . Fortunately though my two Sarracenia made it through, only just though I think as they are just beginning to grow healthy pitchers now. They were throwing a lot up in the Spring but these just turned brown and stopped growing.
I sought advice (through another forum) for these plants fearing that I may lose them too, they have now been re-potted in a suitable mix and are growing well  :jive:
Since finding the other forum I have been helped by some great people   and have now been bitten well and truly by the bug. I have two new venus fly traps and have been given a Drosera Capensis, some D.Capensis 'Alba' seeds and a few Sarracenia which I am chuffed to bits about. I have some giant forms of Venus fly traps growing from seed and some Sarracenia seed sat patiently in the fridge.......but not for much longer. Anyway, now that I've bored you all to tears, I'd just like to say that it's great to find a forum based in the U.K for this fascinating pastime.

Cheers
Jim.

Welcome aboard Jim.  If you're still unsure about dormancy of the VFT's take a look at the dedicated section of my CP website (www.irishcarnivores.tumblr.com).
