A few weeks ago I got a P. grandiflora from one of the reputable nurseries but instead of a nice mature plant I received something really small and young and to be honest, pitiful.  Since my initial planting it lost a couple of leaves, it now has two left.  I'm unsure now if I'm growing it properly.  What are the light requirements? Should I use the tray method of watering or not? I'm currently growing it outside in the trays with my Sarracenia.

I'm a bit peeved about it as in the last county I lived in they grew incredibly close to me.

I keep mine outside in a bit of shade (cooler) and let them sit in plenty of water.

Thanks Ian.  Will be moving to the shady cooler area of the back yard.
