Hello all!

Yesterday, i detected a Red PomPom between my seedlings.
Some of the traps are normal formed, but at least 2 Traps and the following have some characteristics of the Dionaea PomPom.

I don´t know if anyone ever has a red PomPom in cultivation? I doesn´t know photos from this plant so far.
Here are some pics, sorry for the poor quality. I´ve a new cam and i cannot handle it perfect so far ;)

For information:
The plants is grown be seed. I cannot say, which parents the plant had.
The plant is nearly 2 1/2 years old.

What do you think?

Best regards,
Thomas

In my opinion freaky .
If it is stable and to other people beautyfull then you should try and multiply it.

Cheers Tim c

Love it!  I've never seen photos of a red plant making the Pom Pom leaves either.  If it is stable, I'd love to get one :)

That's a cool mutation! Tim C is right - divide it and sell the clones! :D

i not think it s stable ,so not sell this please, the are allready to match not stable plants on the market sell for very big prices,to big,
Cheers Will

mantrid ask this a few days ago on the post pom pom and biohazard ,it s meaby intresting :

It might be from seed or not but it certainly has been exposed to a mutagenic substance which has interfered with either the chromosome separation during pollen and egg production or the chemical has directly affected the plants development. These deformities rarely happen with naturally produced plants. I have never seen such deformities in plants that I have crossed in all the time I have had VFTs. I would be interested to know if other growers have had such deformities from non chemically treated crossing. Not natural looking variations in colour, trap, teeth, petiole size etc, but a clear disruption to the normal growth pattern.

Hello all!

Well Will, if the plant is stable (and i pray for it that it will be so) there is no reason to do not sell the plant.
I know that the chance is not too big, but I have a little bit of hope...
A lot of Dionaea growers hope that the PomPom will go in cultivation as a stable plant!

As until now i never used any chemicals on this plant. If you mean herbicides as chemicals...
I´ve never had any vermin on this plant, so it wasn´t necessary to use any herbicide.
The plant is grown from seed, without using any other things than water, peat, sand and the sun.

I will update here some pics soon and I´m very very happy to have a plant like this

Best regards,
Thomas

Nice! The plant looks very similar to red cup trap with those slightly cupped ends.
Hope it turns out to be stable.
