Hi Tom,

The website shows ''Coming soon'' on most things but if you e-mail the owner and tell him which cultivars you are interested in, he often has a something in. I've found the price of postage and the plants very reasonable when compared with other CP providers. The support is very good too.

Yes they're the two I usually use.  Hampshire have a larger range of Nepenthes, Little Shop of Horrors (Southwest Carnivores) have the better VFT collection but I'm usually torn between the two companies when it comes to Sarracenia as they both have different plants and I want the lot! I bought a lot of plants from both last year but did have a dodgy S. minor from Hampshire. It was supposed to be large yet it only had one trap.  I let it go though, I bought a replacement minor from PJ Plants this year which is much better.  Southwest do package their plants incredibly well though, to the extent that it takes ages to get into a pot, but it's good.  I have stayed away from Southwest this year though, even though I wanted a few of their flytraps, because their postage to Ireland is really expensive.  I presume it's because they send their plants out potted, perhaps we ought to have the option to choose bare root if needs be.  A pity as I'm fond of them.

I've also used PJ plants (formerly Marston Exotics) as they have Adrian Slack's Sarracenia collection.  I had some nice stuff off them this year with only one problem which was quickly remedied.  Paul is very friendly.  Sure you can't just order online like everyone else, nor see photo's of the plants, but their prices were good and once you sort the prices out over email you pay via Paypal.

Hi Richard

We do not send our plants bare root as if the plant has a problem we would not know if it was the fault i our plant or the potting of our customer and as we offer a replacement without any quibling this would /could cause problems. 95% of our customers prefere their plants potted and we have a flat rate for postage so if only one plant is orderd ,yes it is expensive ,order 5 and its alot more cost effective.

Anyway hope all your plants do well
Alistair

Yes I agree with the issues of bare root Alistair. I am a fan of receiving plants already potted, particularly if I'm having a busy few days when they arrive.  The postage is fine when I order loads. The couple of VFT's I'm wanting this season I'm just going to get sent to my mum's in Cornwall when I go over on holiday. They can come back with me then. That'll save some postage.

What are people's experience with Triffid nurseries? I've been looking at their site on and off for years but for some reason never got round to using them.

I,ve used triffid nurseries (andy) and had no problems with them. There plants arrive well packed and very healthy. They mostly send all there plants bare rooted. but in some cases they also send them potted (mostly there vft's).

Thanks folks.

Don't worry Nigel. I have bought from you many times and will continue to.

While I have you there I want to ask you something. It's not in the hybrid section on your site.  Last year at chelsea the BBC featured a Sarracenia hybrid you had called Johnny Marr.  Do you have it for sale???

Hi Richard,

That wasn't mine, it was Matt's stand. Not sure if he has them available yet though-best ask him.

Regards

I am also after this plant, and spoke to him at the Malvern show this year. He told me that due to propogation issues the plant was not yet ready for sale, and it may not be for sale for some tme yet. Dissappointing really as its a very nice plant.
