Hi folks

here is a list of 21 CP events in 2010 for your diaries.  Details of each event have been sent to CPS members and will be posted shortly on the CPS website (www.thecps.org.uk).

OPEN DAYS

These events are hosted by CPS members and commercial nurseries.  Some may also be NCCPG events.  Open days are great ways to meet other CP enthusiasts, to gain advice on growing CPs and to buy/sell/swap plants.  All are welcome to attend whether you are a CPS member or not.

PAUL GARDNER, 29/30 May, 10 - 4pm, Madley, Hereford
MIKE KING, 5 June, Noon onwards, Telford, Shropshire
DEREK CLAVELL-BATE, 12-Jun, Noon onwards, Splatt, near Launceston, Cornwall
DENNIS BALSDON, 13-Jun, 10am-5pm, Paignton, Devon

AIDEN SELWYN, 25-Sep, Noon to 5pm, Alton, Hants
MIKE KING, 9-Oct, Noon onwards, Telford, Shropshire

It is not too late to hold an open day this year so please contact me at cpsmembers@thecps.org.uk if you would like to give it a go.  We have been short of Open Days in Scotland and the North of England for some years and would particularly welcome volunteers from those areas.  It is not necessary to have a large collection to host an Open Day.

That would be the ICPS conference 2010 in Leiden Dennis.

The ICPS is the highly respected and omni-beloved International Carnivorous Plant Society, the ICCP is the International Climate Change Partnership, a mostly US oriented group of companies that advocate that Climatechange like writen in the ICPP paper everybody is shooting holes in at the moment is upon us.

IMHO, Dennis Balsdon is one of the hardest-working members of the CPS Committee, who generally gets the thankless but necessary jobs for the Society that certain others should but don't want to do.
He's quick to respond to members' enquiries and gets stuck in with humdrum, day-to-day Committee business. He's a little diamond in the rough.

Dennis has taken on organisation of meetings on top of his duties as Membership Secretary (after the third resignation from the Committee in 2009).

With that workload and commitment - and no pay for doing it - I'm inclined to forgive him the occasional typographical error...    I'm sure he didn't mean it, Marcel!

Vic Inzani  (yes, it's me)

Dennis was the person who helped me out with my recent plea for a couple of Pings which he supplied at a very generous price - Top Bloke indeed.

keeping on topic, I would be interested in attending the Vic Brown open day which is not too far from me, is there somewhere can I find more details?

tnx
