Lithops Soil Mix & Sand Top Dressing

Hello!

I wanted to get some opinions. I have used a soil mix of:
equal parts:
• turface
• crushed granite
• pumice
Then, just enough topsoil to hold it together.

I have added a thin layer of sand over the soil mixture so the Lithops pop (see image below).

Could this layer of sand present a problem with moisture retention?

no
as long as your mix is at leat 50% coarse sand/grit they will be fine
I try to top dress with small pebbles similar to the plants....

you may place a thicker layer off sand allmost till upside the lithops then she looks better ,in nature are only the windows above sand.you give your plants  a little too match water,only give water two or three times a year (good watering when you give),not on top,in summer misting in the morning . No water from novembre till march ,
