When I bought it a few months ago there was only a little bit of it but now it's almost taken over the whole pot. What is it? and should I leave it or pull it out?

It's a liverwort, and it looks to be Marchantia polymorpha. I would take it off just in case

yes, those little "cups" on the surface are full of gemmae which are dispersed by raindrops. Fascinating, but a bit of a pest....

I suggest you repot the whole plant...

As Stephen allready mentioned, it's a real pest!

Before you know it'll be all over all of your pots...

Hello Slater!
It is not necessary to repott the plant, if the liverwort disturbes just take them away from the surface. They will grow again in the future, but it will take a time to get so much again.
They just harm plants who are too small, like seedlings.

I bought it from Hampshire Carnivorous Plants http://www.hampshire...s-plants.co.uk/
I came in a much smaller pot and was surrounded with the Liverwart. I liked the look of it so I just repotted it with the plant.

The Cobra has grown well since I bought it but I was wondering if the Liverwart would start to impede any new pitcher that try to come up?

The best way to remove liverwort is to dip a paint brush in some vinegar and wipe it on the leaves of the plant.

It's a 100% kill rate, no need to disturb the roots of your cp.

You may find other plants pop up from their seeds but simply get these new plants before they mature to produce more offspring.

Problem solved.

Just keep growing CPs and don't weed, you'll have a collection in no time.

My Darlingtonia has big pitchers and small poorly developed tongues

How do you grow it, in shade /half shaded?
I find that the more sun the bigger the tongue and better colour in the pitchers.
None of those anaemic looking specimens here  :P

I'm only 30 mins South of you.
( Keeping within speed limits)

We had plenty sun in April when the pitchers were coming up.
Looks like we're going to strike it lucky for the next batch  :D

And we don't need to ration water woo hoo!

I've trimmed some of the older pitchers, they were going brown as they have absolutely gorged themselves-what a stink when you remove them. Some of the newer pitchers are a little better looking :) .
