In an episode of "Father Ted" they are given a car to use in a lottery. Their is a tiny tiny dent on it which Father Ted decides to hammer out. At the end there is no car left!!
My perfectly healthy (?)   A. paeoniifolius lying dormant in the greenhouse showed the first tiny traces of mould. So I cut it out and cleaned it up. It came back and in another spot as well. I did further deeper cuts!! I think I know where this going to end!! :cry:    

I think my history of growing tubers is starting to show a pattern here! Do you agree Aidan?

This thread reminded me to go and check the Amorphophallus tubers that I'm storing dry at the moment (they're all Group 1 species).
Anyway, I spotted a silverfish curled around the growth point of a koratensis and tried to squash it.  So, now I've broken most of the outer husk of the potential growing point off. The core of the sprout (for want of a better description) is still there and looks healthy, so I shall put some sulphur on it tomorrow and then keep a close eye on it.

The tuber is now in the compost heap in the sky. :cry:
You could see the rot prgressing faster than the knife cutting it out, and at at about 900 grams or more it was my biggest. Until someone does an Adrian Slack on tubers and how to grow them in the UK will leave them well alone and wait for that book!

do you keep them in a box?
i keep mine on a table, without a box or anything just a paper towel and my collection of amorphophallus.
they get a small misting every once in a while.
