Hi all,
I've recently re-potted some of my VFTs, Sarracenias, and Sundews but I used someone else’s mix, which I have just discovered has vermiculite in it. Will this cause a problem for my plants? Do people use it? Should I re-pot the plants in my normal mix of 1:1 perlite and peat ASAP?
Many thanks

Hi Andy,
People say vermiculite is alkaline so shouldn't be used with acid loving plants, but I recently received some dionaea from a big wholesaler that had obviously been grown in it, and they looked fine.

People generally only use vermiculite for mexican pings - Its thought to be unsuitable for other cps. I'm sure it would take a while to have any effect though and depends how much vermiculite is in the mix.
If it were me I'd re-pot them.
