Stefan P
What are the laws with those things?....just out of interest. Can you use them in pedastrian areas? If so,do you find you run over people a lot?Are they expensive? Cost effective ect ect.lol Hello, Thank you for your question. Bicycles (or "Bikes" as they are colloquially known) are pretty much the same as cars in many ways. I find that using bicycles in pedestrian orientated zones may cause distress or upset, rather like if I were to drive a car down a pavement. I find that fatality rates are no worse than driving a BMW or a HGV blindfolded. Sure I have killed and maimed a few people, but who hasn't? And if I save a few minutes in getting to my material location then I say that's a result! Of course running costs are very expensive, once every 30 miles or so I must stop and refuel using a Double Decker (the chocolate bar - not the bus) at 40p (in most good corner shops) for 275kCal this makes it a very costly enterprise, at 1.3p/9kCal a mile. Of course there are upsides, for example fresh air, exercise and in turn, depending on how efficient your motor is, weight loss. But the safety features are non-existant, airbags, you can forget it, some bicycles have some suspension, but rarely is this much more than 80-120mm of airsprung or coil sprung suspension. Not very good, if you, like me, enjoy cycling no-handed at 17mph through the town centre at midday on a saturday.
