  2. Stefan, i first heard this 15 years ago from a commercial nursery in Bangkok and have since tried it myself, of course everyone's read the books that say they like the shade. Maybe they just tolerate the shade until they get big enough to reach the light, fact is they do seem to grow better in sunlight. I'm not adverse to growing ampullaria in sunlight either it encourages them to form basal rosettes. But however strong the light i give them is, and i've had them in full sun, they never colour up as much as they did in Thailand under tropical sun. This is a good idea for NLowii to get a Lux meter and read the amount of light available where he intends growing them, shade in the tropics can mean 50,000 LUX or more. Shade to humans can mean 10,000 Lux or less. Big Difference...

  6. Great pictures & plants. I drove up and visited a few years ago when I was over in SF for work - well worth the visit (although I don't think my travelling colleague was that impressed).

  11. Just signed up to add my experiences: I paid for an order two weeks ago but haven't heard anything from David since, not even a confirmation he received the payment, even after sending followup emails. I don't think there's any ill intent behind it because the first time I ordered from him, everything went well. Still, my money is now in limbo and I have yet to see any plants. I don't mind waiting for them a bit longer, as long as I would have an idea of when they would be sent. Now, I don't even know if they will be sent. It can't be that difficult to send a quick email saying he's received the payment but is busy with something or other so can't send the plants until a certain date. It's hard to recommend a shop that doesn't reply to customer emails, especially if you've already paid but haven't received your product yet. I hope this will be solved soon.

  12. You might find it will start to produce some shorter fatter pitchers later In the season, my integrade purpurea seems to produce Longer early season pitchers then really fat late season pitchers. This is my intergrade form growing in a 19cm square aquatic pot. I have found growing them closer to the water level seems to promote the longer larger pitchers too. Regards Dan

  13. Well they refunded my money. But to be fair, I would have preferred my order of plants but they chose the easier option. No explanation, no apology just a refund. Lesson learned and I don't order from them again.

  14. Hi, this is my iP20 sarracenia purpurea spp venosa burkii from Nr Sumatra Liberty co Florida. I've had if for years now and it just keeps getting bigger! Think the green colouration for your plant is lack of light . It's in a south facing cold greenhouse and has been down to -13 oC and it coped fine! Picture shows plant on a 2ft x2ft slab!!!! Is growing in a 12 inch pot with peat moss, pearlite and Melcourt fine pine bark! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Hi Ada, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure why it's so green to be honest, as my flava atropurpurea and rubricorpora have coloured up nicely? I guess I'll wait and see how it develops during the rest of the year
